Problema no synaptic

Bem como todos sabem o Ubuntu 11.10 não com o gerenciador de pacotes synaptic instalado, como gosto de utilizar o mesmo entrei na central de programas e instalei o mesmo.
O problema que sempre que tento acessa-lo ele pede a senha root para poder ser executado e logo após digitar a senha o programa se fecha do nada...

alguém pode me ajudar...

Ao tentar iniciar o synaptic pelo terminal ele abre e fecha como antes, mas parece que tem algo de errado pela saída.

Pessoal, também tive esse problema, fiquei um tempão sem usar o Synaptic por causa disso e hoje finalmente descobri o que estava acontecendo:
O problema está no recurso de acessibilidade do Leitor de tela (pasmem)!
Então, abrindo o ícone de acessibilidade, habilite o leitor de tela, aguarde o carregamento do orca e depois volte a desabilita-lo.
Depois disso, aqui em casa o Synaptic voltou a funcionar na hora!

Tenta ae e depois posta se deu certo!
