Notebook Positivo Z710 - Sis Mirage 3 Graphics

Galera, comprei esse notebook (Positivo Mobile Z710) há algumas semanas, pensando que seria bom para se utilizar com Linux, ja que o mesmo vem com a distro Mandriva instalado, e desde entao venho penando para poder utilizar tudos os recursos 100%, ou pelo menos os mais necessários para meu uso diário. Atualmente estou com Ubuntu 9.04 instalado.

(É verdade que existem notebooks com configurações mais compatives com o Linux em geral, mas por questões financeiras não pude adquirir um assim, e nao tendo alternativa, tenho agora a dificil tarefa de tentar configurar esse hardware para poder utilizar software livre no Notebook. Conto com a ajuda da comunidade para pelo menos tentar resolver essa entrave.)


Como podem ver, é uma máquina até boa, mas alguns itens matam a configuração: Chipset, Vídeo e Wireless...
Há duas semanas venho pesquisando (googleando) atrás de alternativas para fazer meu hardware funcionar redondinho...

No Mandriva não testei muita coisa nao, mas vi que os drivers 3d de video nao estavam instalados, assim que cheguei em casa instalei logo o ubuntu na ocasiao o 8.10 e dia 26 instalei o 9.04 que ja reconheceu praticamente tudo, menos o driver de video, a wireless até reconheceu, consigo visualizar as redes disponiveis e os niveis de sinal, consegui conectar uma vez so, depois nao da pra navegar, pelo que li esse driver e experimental e bem instavel, tentei de tudo que é maneira instalar, mas larguei de mao essa wireless por enquanto e parti para o Vídeo...

Eis que consegui baixar um driver para o Vídeo usando a dica do amigo "sodeiro" neste mesmo fórum

Ele diz nesse topico que os drivers sao apenas 2D.    
Mas para minha surpresa ontem, mesmo sabendo que esses drives nao seriam 3D rodei os comando via terminal

Notem que na 3ª linha está assim:   direct rendering: Yes      - o que teoricamente seria a confirmação de que os drivers 3d estariam ativados...

Não bastando isso, instalei um jogo 3d para fazer o teste.... instalei o jogo openarena e o mesmo rodou normalmente aqui.
Lógico que tive que baixar a resolução dentro do jogo para poder jogar com um pouco menos de lag. mas rodou!!!!!
Tambem rodei Counter Strike via Wine aqui e tambem rodou. nao ficou uma maravilha em termos graficos mas pelo menos rodou...

O que me chamou a atenção nao foi nem o fato de conseguir jogar CS, ja que o mesmo usa as bibliotecas do wine e emula o directX da M$, mas foi o OpenArena que utiliza as bibliotecas OpenGL para processar video...

Não sei se fui so eu que notei isso, mas peço a ajuda de voces pra esclarecer algumas dessas informações e se possivel uma ajuda para configurar melhor o meu Hardware, e se conseguirmos alguma coisa a partir disto vejo que muita gente tambem saira beneficiada, pois são muitos os topicos e comentarios de problemas e falta de driver para esta placa de video...

Caro colega tenho um note com as mesmas caracteísticas, só não web cam.
No Ubuntu 8.04 ele roda todas as funcionalidades, com relação ao wireless, só foi depois de fazer a 1ª atualização.
Com relação ao Vídeo consigo apenas resolção de 1280x768, o que é bem próximo do x800, foi o máximo que consegui, vou mandar pra ti meu xorg.conf e te dizer como fazer para ter essa resolução, lembro que qualquer 3D nem pensar.
1º Abra o terminal - consola - e digite: $sudo nautilus
   -  Isso vai abrir o nautilus no modo root
2º Vá as pastas: sistema de arquivos > etc > X11 > xorg.conf
3º Antes de abrir o arquivo façaum backup dele caso algo der errado.
   - Feito o backup.
4º Dê dois cliques no arquivo e clique em EXIBIR.
5º Apague todo seu conteúdo e cole este do meu xorg.conf, abaixo:

OBS: Este arquivo xorg.conf foi testado com sucesso no Ubuntu nas versões 8.04, 8.10 e 9.04. Também funciona no Kubuntu.

Camaradas, boa madrugada!
As dicas do João Vicente foram perfeitas para o meu Lap (CCe Win, Core 2 duo, 2Gb Ram, com placa Sis), está tudo funcionando (Web cam, Wireless....).
Instalei o Ubuntu 9.04. Muito obrigado João, agora posso ser feliz usando apenas o Ubuntu.

Obrigado pelas respostas e dicas João Vicente, mas, minha placa de vídeo está configurada segui o tuto que está aqui mesmo no fórum conforme link citado em minha primeira mensagem, está rodando com resolução 1280 x 800, o que quis destacar foi que rodando os comandos glxgears e glxinfo, da a parecer que o 3d esteja ativado sim, mesmo que o software esteja emulando esse 3d, o que ja seria um começo, para os usuários que possuem esse hardware como nós.

Outro detalhe, nao consegui usar minha wireless Realtek RTL 8187B, o ubuntu 9.04 reconhece, instala, até vejo as redes disponíveis, mas quando conecta, nao passa de algums minutos e a conexao cai, ou seja imposível usar...


Fica aberto entao para discutirmos essa questão da placa de vídeo Sis mirage 3+, fica aberto também para discutirmos questões sobre o Hardware desse LapTop Positivo Móbile Z710, Enquanto nao conseguir configurar todo meu Laptop pra eu usar nao desisto...

Caro colega tenho um note com as mesmas caracteísticas, só não web cam.
No Ubuntu 8.04 ele roda todas as funcionalidades, com relação ao wireless, só foi depois de fazer a 1ª atualização.
Com relação ao Vídeo consigo apenas resolção de 1280x768, o que é bem próximo do x800, foi o máximo que consegui, vou mandar pra ti meu xorg.conf e te dizer como fazer para ter essa resolução, lembro que qualquer 3D nem pensar.
1º Abra o terminal - consola - e digite: $sudo nautilus
   -  Isso vai abrir o nautilus no modo root
2º Vá as pastas: sistema de arquivos > etc > X11 > xorg.conf
3º Antes de abrir o arquivo façaum backup dele caso algo der errado.
   - Feito o backup.
4º Dê dois cliques no arquivo e clique em EXIBIR.
5º Apague todo seu conteúdo e cole este do meu xorg.conf, abaixo:

6º Clique em SALVAR, feche o arquivo, feche o terminal e reinicie o computador.

OBS: Este arquivo xorg.conf foi testado com sucesso no Ubuntu nas versões 8.04, 8.10 e 9.04. Também funciona no Kubuntu.

Será que é possivel um dia eu ultilizar a aceleração 3d uma placa da sis?
Tenho um note "CCE J48A  com a placa SIS Mirage 3" ja uso a aceleração 2d no Ubuntu 9.04, mais tem recursos do ubuntu que eu quero conhecer, sera que um dia isto será possivel para este note ou vou ter que comprar outro?
