Bom dia Pessoal, qual procedimento para efetuar a instalação do xmms no ubuntu, pois nao estou cosenguindo!!!

Já tentou o comando sudo apt-get install xmms ?
sudo aptitude remove terno-e-gravata && sudo aptitude install bermuda chinelo -y

ja tentei .... mas aparece a seguinte mensagem... para instalação de qualquer programa....;

cola aqui o conteúdo do arquivo sources.list que se encontra em /etc/apt

quando baixo um programa para instalação no linux(ubuntu), o mesmo tem que ser desanexado em alguma
pasta especifica... pois estou tentando instalar os mesmos a partir de ondem fiz o download... ex:]

Não entendi?

o comando sudo apt-get install xmms é para baixar dos repositórios do Ubuntu o programa xmms e depois instalá-lo, tudo de forma automática. Os programas baixados dos repositórios e instalados ficam em cache em /var/cache/apt/archives

Agora se você baixou o xmms de algum outro lugar que não seja os repositórios do Ubuntu e quer instalá-lo vai depender do formato que ele está ( .tar.gz, .deb, .rpm e etc)

É muito estranho isso, não é a primeira vez que vejo a sources.list de usuários está com todos os seus repositórios comentados (comentar significa que o símbolo # está no início dos textos indicando que aquele texto vai ser ignorado), portanto o apt-get está ignorando todos os repositórios, por isso não consegue instalar nada.

Faz o seguinte faça o que falo aqui:

Bom depois do comando:

sudo apt-get update

é só usá-lo com o que você quer instalar:

sudo apt-get install nome_do_programa

Aproveitando o tópico, baixei programas da net para Ubuntu com extensões seguintes:
.tgz, .tar.gz, .deb, .rpm, .run, .bz2, .zip e .package. Quero saber como instalar. Sim o . zip é temas para aMSN e não sei instalar.

Mais ou menos isso:

.deb =  formatos de pacotes para distribuições baseadas no Debian (Ubuntu e etc.)

.tgz = formatos de pacotes para o Slackware.

.tar.gz = formato de pacotes em código-fonte (para serem compilados).

.bz2 = a mesma coisa que o .tar.gz só que com uma capacidade de compactação maior.

.rpm = formato de pacotes para distribuições baseadas no Red Hat ( Mandriva, OpenSuSe, Fedora e etc).

Estes acima não deixa de ser apenas arquivos compactados, de certo modo, com algumas características especiais.

.zip = mesma coisa que no windows, ou seja, apenas arquivos compactados.

.run = creio que seja formato de pacotes em modo binário, ou seja, instaladores que já vem compilados de tal forma que rodem em praticamente qualquer distribuição.

.package = formato automatizado de instalação que se chama "auto package". Para se instalar um pacote ".package" o procedimento é semelhante ao dos pacotes ".run" ou ".bin". Basta executá-los que todo o processo será automatizado.

Baixei esse programa isomaster-1.3.1.tar.bz2, pra instalar eh soh descompactar os arquivos?
Como faço?
