Estou desde sexta-feira tentando instalar o ubuntu 7.04 em meu computador. Inicialmente tentei instalar via "Alternate cd", mas este nem conseguiu inicializar o computador.
Baixei e instalei o Ubuntu 7.04 (final) via "Desktop cd". (sempre tendo cuidado de verificar o MD5SUM e testar a integridade da gravação).
A instalação transcorreu normalmente, mas ao bootar pelo HD, verifiquei que novos problemas apareceram. Ou seja, na verdade ele não "bootou". Apenas poucos segundos após a inicialização aparecem os erros que relato mais abaixo.
Pesquisei sobre esses erros, e parece que muita, mas muita gente teve problemas parecidos, só que geralmente estavam associados à controladora SATA (bug já conhecido a mais de meio ano e ainda sem solução), o que não é o meu caso. Só tenho controladora IDE.
No mesmo computador estava rodando o Ubuntu 6.10 até sexta feira e rodo também Fedore 6 (também com kernel 2.6.20) e RedHat Enterprise Server 4.
Procedimento para repetir o problema:
1) Ligar o computador
2) Tirar a opção "splash" do grub (afim de ver mais informações durante o boot)
3) boot
4) após alguns segundos, aparece o seguinte na tela:

- e em /dev/hda8, estava instalado o Ubuntu 6.10, e onde instalei o 7.04.

Se alguém tiver alguma informação para resolver ou contornar esse problema, por favor
poste aqui. Realmente espero não ter que comprar um novo computador para continuar
usando o Ubuntu.
