erro a instalar Lives

estou a tentar instalar o lives, quando faço o comando ./configure passado um tempo da este erro:

checking for pkg-config... /usr/local/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for GTK... configure: error: Package requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.8.0) were not met.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you

Alternatively you may set the GTK_CFLAGS and GTK_LIBS environment variables
to avoid the need to call pkg-config.  See the pkg-config man page for
more details.

nao estou a conseguir perceber o que tenho que fazer para solucionar isto, podem-me dar uma ajuda?

não sei se existe o Lives em algum repositório para ser baixado pelo APT, mais no site do nosso colega Lamego tem um pacote DEB da versão 0.9.8.2 que vae te facilitar em muito a instalação.
