I wonder what's gone wrong with Ubuntu and why it's missed the chance to compete against Windows and Mac.
Could PC-BSD be successful and take-off where Ubuntu has failed?
To keep this message short, I will tell you 2 reasons why I think Ubuntu has now failed:
1) The Unity interface has been forced upon users who were familiar and happy with the simple, easy-to-use and "no frills" GNOME.
2) The system requirements are getting higher and higher. Have they forgotten that Ubuntu could have been used to give older computers a new lease of life?
Also remember that Ubuntu has to be updated every 6 months if you want the latest features, apps and bugfixes. I feel that the 12.04 release was rushed and there are still things that don't work.
I would love to hear from others and see what people think of PC-BSD compared to Ubuntu.
You were brilliant in resuming the situation.
Now letś talk about CAUSES:
1) forum admin gangs
2) african canonical trying to be in the headlines as "easy" and "ready for use", they copyed the MICROSOFT windows way of work.
In both ways, they lack one main thing: THE USERS FEEDBACK.
Try to say "no i don like unity" in an ubuntu foru,. They will throw rocks on you and say you are free to go anywhere else and say nobody forces you on using it.
Well... in any place or forum in the internet is clear that 90% of the world did NOT like unity... But in Ubuntu forums, 90% LIKE AND LOVE and preach YOU MUST GET USED TO... You must ADAPT YOURSELF TO CANONICAL WISHES... Or get stoned and admin-people repeat that "Linux is freedom and you are free to go anywhere else" as a falacy.
Well, the only place linux has no freedom is in ubuntu.
Plus, people so money-in-first-place can not asure the safety we need in linux. Noone can examine codes and nobody does in deep nowadays. Canonical seems to have a "hidden microsoft management department" inside to follow one crap after another like they do.
I hope mint leaves soon to LDME direction, with all users following, and i hope ubuntu die alone. Then i will love to say "hey, linux is freedom and you are free to be alone in ubuntu now stupid admin forum gang people" ahahahahahahahahahahah
The admin forums and senior users in the forums are like canonical dogs. They praise canonical like fanatics preach religion... Do they get money for it? I dont know, but i laugh saying now RECEIVE THE PAYMENT! ahahahahahaha everyone saying BYE BYE and those stupid admins can watch the results, everybody deserting and leaving them alone.
You reap what you sow !!! RIP canonical
