Problemas com Repositório

Eu iniciei o uso do Ubuntu há pouco tempo e nunca tive esse problema, comprei um computador com arquitetura x64
instalei o ubuntu 11.04, pra começar o sistema está com vários erros de gramática com uns caracteres estranhos, acreditei que com uma atualização fosse mudar
mas aí que está meu problema, não consigo atualizar nada no meu sistema, já mudei a sources.list como vi em alguns tutoriais e nada, tentei mudar o servidor pelo sinaptic e nada também.
Não sei o que fazer por favor me ajudem.

abra o terminal e digite

"apt-get update --fix-missing"

"sudo apt-get update && upgrade"

se não funcionar, no final vai aparecer o que exatamente está acontecendo, poste o resultado aqui se não der certo.

Se tem certeza que seu Ubuntu é o 11.10, use isto:
