Problemas com som no Ubuntu 9.10

Não consigo inicializar o som em modo texto no Ubuntu 9.10. Tenho um aplicativo usando a biblioteca Allegro e não consigo detectar o som.

Eu estou com o mesmo problema que o amigo aí de cima, as nossas placas são as mesmas, ou quase isso. Meu notebook está sem som. Abaixo como o lspci dele:

Eu removi o modem smartlink, o som funcionou e minha internet está funcionando normalmente.
