Problemas com Resolução 1024 x 600 (Proview PC 81001)

Olá a todos, pessoal a pouco tempo adquiri um Netbook Proview PC-81001 e percebi que estou tendo problemas com a resolução 1024 x 768, entrei no site do fabricante e descobri que a resolução adequada para este note é de 1024 x 600. Gostaria de saber como posso resolver este problema? Segue abaixo algumas informações sobre a minha máquina.

Não tenho um Netbook, mas dei uma olhada em uns fóruns a questão da resolução realmente parece ser um problema para o Gnome. Você já tentou instalar o Ubuntu Netbook Remix?

Se quiser alguns truques para mover janelas que ficam fora da área da tela, que pode ajudar a conviver com a resolução diferente, avise.

Já instalei o Ubuntu remix 9.10 , mas ficou muito lento com consumo de CPU em 100% . Gostaria de saber se podemos modificar a tela do Ubuntu 9.10 para ficar igual ao do remix e ve o que acontece.

Não sei se pode ajudar, mas uso uma GeForce 6200 com um monitor LG W2053TQ (WS 20"), e não tive problema para criar uma resolução própria de 1360 x 768, que é a mais confortável visualmente no caso, ainda que não seja a recomendada. Certifique-se de ter todos os drivers de sua placa (Geode LX) instalados, pode ser isso.

Como o chipset do vídeo deste netbook é um AMD Geode LX-800, andei garimpando a internet quase ao ponto de desistir novamente, quando me deparei de que existe um .DEB que ajusta o vídeo ao monitor. Acontece que baixei e rodei o arquivo e não vi resultado algum. Alguém mais experiente que eu se habilitaria a explicar o que deve ser feito depois de instalado?
O arquivo é xserver-xorg-video-geode e pode ser baixado no seguinte link do debian: http://mirror.pop-sc.rnp.br/mirror/Debian/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-geode/xserver-xorg-video-amd_2.11.7-1_i386.deb

Finalmente, consegui resolver o problema com a resolução do monitor que insistia em 1024x768 ao invés de 1024x600.
A solução estava no fórum do Linux Mint (http://www.linuxmint.com.br/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?start=20&topic_id=161&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0) Post #22.
O xorg.conf customizado para este netbook segue abaixo. Espero que tenham sucesso, como eu tive. Abraços.

Uso o Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
A resolução que consigo é 1024 x 768 (boa para mim), mas com 60 Hz (ruim para minha vista). Pela experiência com meu pc e com Windows XP, o melhor é colocar 70 Hz com a mesma resolução 1024 x 768. O problema é que não existe tal opção com o driver fornecido para placa Nvidia. Como conseguir tal 70 Hz?

O problema foi solucionado na versão 10.10. O Ubuntu já reconhece a resolução. Basta apenas ir no gerenciador de resolução e mudar para 1024x600.
