troque as linhas:

Citartitle       Windows XP
rootnoverify    (hd0,1)
makeactive
chainloader +1

por:

Citartitle      Windows XP
rootnoverify   (hd0,0)
savedefault
makeactive
chainloader   +1

pois segundo esta sua informação:

Citar/dev/sda1               1        1810    14538793+   7  HPFS ou NTFS
/dev/sda2            1811        3536    13864095   83  Linux
/dev/sda3            3537        9729    49745272+   5  Estendida
/dev/sda5            3537        9729    49745241   83  Linux

o seu windows é o /dev/sda1 = (hd0,0) e não o (hd0,1) que seria a partição /dev/sda2

OBS: para editar o arquivo menu.lst do grub tem de ser como root, que pelo terminal seria assim:

sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
