dificuldade com wireless 64 bits no 8.04 (que funcionava no 7.10)

tenho um acer 3050 (64-bit), no qual estava tudo funcionando bem no ubuntu 7.10. fiz o upgrade para 8.04 e a conexão wireless foi p o espaço (sequer aparece p a configuração manual de rede). alguém pode me ajudar?

por fim, dada a pequena diferença de informação sobre a placa, não sei para qual santo (AR5006EG 802.11 b/g Wireless PCI Express Adapter  ou  AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter) acender uma vela. de qq forma, sou usuário ainda menos experiente do que desejaria e ainda tenho alguma dificuldade de resolver imbroglios como esse. já vasculhei fóruns e as informações parecem desencontradas. agradeço pela ajuda.

Estou com o mesmo problema, o 8.04 nem acha minha placa wireless (realtek 8185) no 7.10 funcionava direitinho, sorte que instalei o 8.04 em outra partição.

Também na plataforma i386 as configurações de rede wireless não são mantidas.
Cada vez que ligo o PC tenho que alternar a configuração para zeroconf e depois voltar a configuração para IP fixo em "Configuração Manual de Rede" e ainda reconfigurar as "Configurações de Rede"

Caro amigo, estou com o mesmo problema que vc, no ubuntu 7.10 lista uma placa e no 8.04 lista outra, já procurei em tudo e nada..
alguem sabe oq pode ser?
