Então istalei aqui o Ubuntu Gutsy e não consigo navegar na internet.
ele simplesmente não funciona!!!
o Ubuntu reconheceu minha placa como uma SIS190n
o que poderia ser???
alguem tem ideia???
Alias ele pega ip e tudo só não funciona
não abre site nenhum não reconhece minha rede
e nem quando eu ligo ele direto no virtua ou no ajato
ja que tenho 2 provedores aqui pra redundancia.

Melhor esperar alguém mais experiente na resolução de problemas de configuração de hardware.

Como não consegui resolver o problema comprei outra placa de rede.
Uma RTL8139D
mas ela tbmm nao funcionou
ela simplesmente não está disponivel para uso no ubuntu
isso está me trazendo grandes problemas HELPPPPPP

Placas Sis são problemáticas no Linux, se bem que eu tinha uma placa Pcchips com rede Sis190 que funcionava normalmente. Mas essa Realtek deveria funcionar. Experimente desabilitar a onboard pelo setup da BIOS. Se mesmo assim não funcionar, é quase certo que é um problema de configuração, não de hardware.

Então acho que podemos eliminar o problema de hardware. O que tem que ser visto agora é como foi feita a configuração de internet. Como é feita a autenticação com esses provedores? É por pppoe, dhcp? Seria necessário dar mais detalhes.

Então descobri algo que talvez possa ajudar
desabilitei o ipv6 na maquina e agora só consigo entrar em sites do dominio do google

Instalando o Driver
De modo a configurar o ndiswrapper, é necessário obter o driver Windows para a sua placa de rede sem fios. Geralmente, a melhor maneira de se fazer isto é através do CD fornecido com a sua placa de rede. Você deve copiar dois arquivos para o mesmo local no seu computador, um cujo nome termina com a extensão .SYS e outro com a extensão .INF. Se você encontrar arquivos cujo os nomes terminem com .BIN, copie estes também.
Se você não conseguir encontrar os arquivos corretos e possuir acesso alternativo à internet, você poderá encontrar mais ajuda no site do ndiswrapper.
Se você tem instalada a ferramenta gráfica ndisgtk, para configurar o ndiswrapper, selecione o menu Sistema -> Administração -> Drivers Windows para Placas de Rede Sem Fios e siga as instruções fornecidas.
Se você não instalou a ferramenta gráfica, use este procedimento:
1. Abra o terminal e digite o comando:
sudo ndiswrapper -i ~/Desktop/drivername.inf
O comando acima assume que o seu arquivo .INF tem o nome drivername.inf e que foi copiado para o seu Desktop. Substitua estes valores se necessário.
2. Para verificar se está funcionando corretamente, digite:
ndiswrapper -l
Se estiver funcionando corretamente, você deve visualizar:

3. Para o ndiswrapper funcionar, você necessita carregar um módulo. Para fazer isto, digite:

Usando o NetworkManager

O network-manager-gnome procura automaticamente por redes disponíveis e para conectar-se em uma é muito simples. Primeiramente, selecione-a com o botão esquerdo do mouse e em seguida informe a senha que será solicitada, caso a rede esteja protegida (WEP ou WPA). Existe também a opção de armazenar está senha no chaveiro, siga as instruções fornecidas se desejável. Após conectado, detalhes sobre a conexão e potência do sinal também são exibidos e ficam residentes ao lado do relógio.





Resolvendo Problemas

Em alguns fóruns vi notícias com problemas na rede devido ao ipv6 estar ativo por padrão, para mudar isso então faça o seguinte:
Em terminal:
sudo vim  /etc/modprobe.d/aliases
Em modo gráfico, Alt + F2 e digite:
gksu gedit  /etc/modprobe.d/aliases
Muda a linha de:
alias net-pf-10 ipv6
para
alias net-pf-10 off

A minha antiga PCchips tinha um problema parecido. A máquina às conectava mas não navegava. Aliás, até navegava, mas só conseguia acessar o Google. Nunca descobri o que causava o problema, mas achei uma forma de não acontecer. Nessa máquina eu tinha um boot duplo, Windows e Linux. Se eu ligava a máquina e entrava diretamente no Linux, tudo bem. Mas se eu ia para o Windows e depois dava um reboot, indo para o Linux, acontecia esse problema de não conseguir acessar nenhum site, a não ser o Google. Eu precisa desligar tudo, inclusive o modem, e religar, indo direto para o Linux.
