Mouse ótico usb para de funcionar

Não sei se deveria posta aqui ou na seção de Periféricos normal, mas como estou usando um laptop, resolvi postar aqui. É o seguinte. Meu mouse ótico usb da IBM funciona normal durante um certo tempo no Ubuntu 7.04. Depois ele morre. E sempre quando reinicio fica a mesma coisa.

No Windows nunca deu esse problema. Achei muito estranho.
