Ubuntu 6.10 - PC Positivo Futura - Resolução de video

Pessoal,

Dezenas de mensagens sobre modos de exibições de vídeo e não consegui resolver meu problema para colocar a resolução em 1024x768 no meu PC Positivo Futura.

Após a instalação o Ubuntu reconhece a placa de video no gerenciador de dispositivos  como:

Fornecedor: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]
Dispositivo: 661/741/760/761 PCI/AGP VGA Display
Status        : Status
Tipo de Bar: PCI
Tipo de Dis: Unknown
Recursos   : Unknown

Usando o xrandr mostra:

SZ:    Pixels          Physical       Refresh
*0    800 x 600    ( 282mm x 212mm )  *86 
1    640 x 480    ( 282mm x 212mm )   86 
Current rotation - normal
Current reflection - none
Rotations possible - normal
Reflections possible - none

E com o sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg mostra os modelos das placas, escolho  a sis e ate tem a resolução 1024*768 mas após gravar o arquivo tudo permanece igual.

O Windows reconheceu a placa de video como sendo uma SiS Mirage Graphics....

Alguém pode dar uma luz ?

Na linha   DefaultDepth   24 teste usar DefaultDepth   16 para ver se funciona.

Tente também trocar a linha Driver      "via" para Driver      "sis", mas lembre-se que nesse ultimo caso o X pode não iniciar, então é bom fazer um backup do arquivo xorg.conf antes.

Grande Naldin,

Fiz aquela alteração, mas o sistema reiniciou em modo texto, aí o expert aqui fez alguma besteira, e não carregava mais o X.

Como eu estava meio injuriado com o Gnome, baixei o Kubuntu e ele reconheceu a configuração de video correta. Agora esta uma maravilha.

Agradeço a ajuda e mando abaixo a o xorg.conf do kubuntu que por coincidência esta com o mesmo 24. Mas num futuro conforme os conhecimentos forem aumentando vou tentar descobrir o pq não deu certo.....

A diferença entre os dois, o Ubuntu está reconhecendo sua placa SIS como via, por isso não chegava a resolução ideal. Mas era só mudar para a sis que provavelmente iria resolver.
