Widescreen Ubuntu

Tenho um Sony Vaio-FE21M.
Sei que este assunto já foi debatido noutros threads mas por estar agora a mudar-me/ experimentar Ubuntu decidi colocar um novo .
Decidi experimentar Ubuntu por Vmware, mas o problema que tenho é a resolucao do ecran. O maximo que aparece nas resoluções de ecran é 1024x768. ja li em varios foruns que tenho que mudar o xorg.conf, mas como bom noob que sou nao tou a ver o que tenho que fazer la. Assim, e peco desde ja desculpa pelo comprimento do post e pelo sitio onde o coloquei, agradecia a vossa ajuda para tentar colocar em 1200x800. Li noutros threads para fazer sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg. Ja fiz, ja alterei a resolucao aqui, mas nao mudou nada ao reiniciar. Já me disseram também que tinha que actualizar os driver's da Nvidia. Fiz isso e a resolução manteve-se igual mas fiquei sem net. Voltei a instalar o VMware e agora nao sei como fazer para ter o ecran total.

Desculpa pelo up antigo, mas é que tenho um Sony VAIO VGN-FE28H e queria saber se tá rodando tudo tranquilo com o seu VAIO. conseguiu resolver esse problema amigo? Ainda não instalei o Ubuntu mas estou prestes a fazê-lo.
