Bios - Placa Mãe - Notebook Qbex

Eu tenho um notebook Qbex que utilizo linux Ubuntu desde sempre.

Não consigo achar atualização de bios para a placa (necessito atualizar pois a virtualização é desabilitada pelo bios) e só é possivel habilitar atualizando a versão do bios.

Estas informações foram retiradas pelo proprio sistema linux. Eu perdi a nota fiscal e não tenho o modelo do notebook, pois ate a etiqueta sumiu. No site do fabricante não possui dados detalhados.

Bom eu não tenho Disquete, e não uso windows. Então é possivel atualizar a versão do bios para habilitar o kvm nele, sem usar disquete e sem necessidade de instalar o windows?

Tentei de todo jeito mas não consegui encontrar nada a respeito sobre a placa, nem no site da intel, no site do fabricante, etc, google e tudo mais.

Alguem me ajuda por favor. Já tentei por chat do suporte da fabricante Qbex (mas sempre esta indisponivel), tentei por email, mas não respondem, não acho nada a respeito. Então so posso contar com a ajuda e boa vontade dos voluntários aqui do forum.

Você tem certeza que tem atualização de BIOS para este Notebook?

Não tem referência alguma sobre ele na parte de baixo do Notebook?

Sem saber o modelo exato do notebook você pode é acabar "matando" ele  com uma BIOS errada.


Esses caras fazem a maior propaganda do suporte.....

Olha o numero de série do notebook abaixo, era uma etiqueta que saiu com o tempo. O notebook já tem mais de 2 anos de uso. Necessito atualizar o bios pra habilitar certas funções no setup, como virtualização, que necessito, pra executar algumas funções em homeoffice da empresa.

O notebook é meu mesmo da marca Qbex. O suporte deles é um lixo. E quando entro em www.phoenix.com para ver eles direcionam para baixar um software e este software ele é pago. Deve haver algum jeito de atualizar ele. So não consigo sozinho.

Instale o cpu-checker

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install cpu-checker


Então cheque:

$ sudo kvm-ok

Se estiver habilitado na CPU, yvocê deve ver algo como:

CitarINFO: /dev/kvm exists
KVM acceleration can be used

Em caso negativo, você verá algo como:

CitarINFO: /dev/kvm does not exist
HINT:   sudo modprobe kvm_intel
INFO: Your CPU supports KVM extensions
INFO: KVM (vmx) is disabled by your BIOS
HINT: Enter your BIOS setup and enable Virtualization Technology (VT),
     and then hard poweroff/poweron your system
KVM acceleration can NOT be used

Em terminal tente sudo modprobe kvm-Intelveja se o sistema reporta algo, se não responder nada, está instalado.

Só depois disto pense em atualizar a BIOS

Só para matar a curiosidade, o que precisa fazer que é necessário habilitar VT-x?

Quanto a sua resposta irei começar o treinamento de homeoffice no dia 20 especificamente. Irei usar maquina virtuais e segundo a Segurança da Informação da empresa perguntou o hardware do meu notebook e necessito de virtualização habilitada ou comprar um notebook que tenha este acesso. Quem ira configurar isto, junto com os programas serao eles. Mas precisa estar funcionando para eles apenas configurar e liberar os acessos.

No treinamento sera me passado as instruções. E seremos em cinco pessoas. Agora especificamente o motivo do kvm habilitado eu não sei ainda. Mas caso não estiver habilitado vou ter que comprar outro notebook, o que não quero fazer agora.

Não tem virtualização na sua BIOS.

Já tentou habilitar ou está assumindo que precisa atualizar? Geralmente é uma opção escondida em "Configurações avançadas" ou equivalente. Fora isso a pergunta do galactus continua valendo, certeza que existe atualização de bios pra essa placa? Não é porque o processador suporta que necessariamente vai existir uma opção pra habilitar.
