Modem 3G Huawei e156 CTBC não funiona no Ubuntu 12.04 nem no 12.10

Olá gente,

Tenho um modem 3g Huawei e156 da operadora CTBC.   Com o firmware fornecido pela CTBC esse modem não funciona no Ubuntu 12.04 nem no 12.10.
Se eu instalar o firmware mais novo, fornecido pelo site da Huawei, o modem funciona, mas o firmware fornecido pelo site da Huawei tem problemas com alguns downloads por exemplo. Alguém sabe fazer o modem funcionar no Ubuntu com o firmware fornecido pelo site da CTBC?

zekkerj, eu faço o procedimento normal que é descrito no site da CTBC e da Huawei. Baixo arquivo do firmware, fecho o programado discador do modem, desconecto fisicamente todos os dispositivos USB, exceto o modem e o mouse, dou dois cliques no arquivo do firmware e vou dando OK.

zekkerj, esqueci de dizer: o procedimento de instalação do firmware só pode ser feito no Windows.

Nuno, o gestor de ligação que vc está falando é esse gestor padrão, em ambiente gráfico, que fica no canto superior direito da tela perto do rélógio e do controle de som?

Já tentei configurar tudo manualmente nesse gestor de ligação que eu falei, inclusive o APN e o DNS corretos. Nas versões mais recentes do Ubuntu o modem só é reconhecido no gestor quando uso o firmware ruim, que é o do site da Huawei.

Eu no meu só configurei o apn no meu linux da minha operadora e nada mais e está a trabalhar muito bem

Pois  eu acho isso muito estranho, eu no meu eu utilizo o gestor de ligações e nunca deu problema

Não consigo. Só consigo se eu usar o firmware ruim, que é o mais novo, o do site da Huawei.

Pois  eu acho isso muito estranho, eu no meu eu utilizo o gestor de ligações e nunca deu problema

Nuno, a sua operadora é a CTBC? Pois o firmware é diferente conforme a operadora.

Eu tenho o firmware salvo, mas o site da Huawei nem fornece mais ele. Acho que eles viram que esse firmware está com defeito. Mas já tem um bom tempo que eles tiraram do site, e eu ouvi dizer que eles não dão mais suporte de atualizações para esse modem.
