O que vem a ser este erro?

Estava fazendo atualização no gerenciador de atualização e ocorreu este erro:

W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://archive.canonical.com lucid/partner Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_partner_binary-i386_Packages)

Significa que você possui duas linhas iguais em seu arquivo /etc/apt/sources.list verifique e elimine uma delas. (ou comente, acrescentando um # no inicio da linha)

Vai no sources.list (sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list)

Comente a linha "http://archive.canonical.com  lucid/partner" que é a que eu acho que está duplicada.

Para comentar a linha é só acrescentar um "#" no começo dela.

Verifiquei e nenhuma linha está duplicada. Estranho.

Vai em "/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_partner_binary-i386_Packages" e delete só essa linha.

(sudo gedit /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_partner_binary-i386_Packages)

Veja se dá certo.

Desculpe, não é linha, é o arquivo. Vá na pasta "/var/lib/apt/lists/" e delete o "archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_partner_binary-i386_Packages"

Eu entendo Deis, linha de comando é um saco. Eu também não gosto dela, e eu não sou tão "expert" assim como você imagina, sou novato ainda.   

Mas tipo, é o jeito mais rápido de ajudar uma pessoa, pois é só colocar o comando ao invés de indicar o caminho todo pelo modo gráfico (que é mais lento e toma muito espaço no post).

Mas vou tentar indicar o caminho que você tem que fazer, de modo bem simples, ok?

1° Abra o terminal.

2° Dentro do terminal, digite "sudo nautilus"

3° Vai abrir uma janela com umas pastas dentro.

4° Nesta janela com umas pastas dentro, em cima tem um campo, tipo com uns quadradinhos mostranho em qual pasta você está. Do lado desses quadradinhos tem um ícone tipo notas, do lado esquerdo da janela. Clique nele.

5° Agora vai aparecer um campo, tipo quando você precisa digitar o endereço de um site no firefox. Neste campo digite "/var/lib/apt/lists/"

6° Tecle "Enter"

7° Vai entrar numa pasta com um monte de arquivos, procure pelo arquivo "archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_partner_binary-i386_Packages"

8° Clique neste arquivo (um clique só) e aperte "shift + delete". Sim, exclua o arquivo.

9° Pode sair ou minimizar essa janela agora. Se tudo deu certo, não vai aparecer aquele erro que você falou.

Se der algum problema, poste aqui novamente.

eheheheh... tá ok então. 

Uma curiosidade: No Windows 7 quando acontece algum erro, ele identifica o erro e diz o que deu errado, e dá uma solução (quase sempre ele acerta, por incrível que pareça); no Linux poderia ter um sistema de detecção de erros assim né.

Você viu o íconizinho de um "lápis" do lado esquerdo da janela? Clicou nele? Depois que clica nele aparece uma barra para você digitar em cima, é só digitar nela. Essa barra está dentro da janela, em cima.

Obs.: No meu Linux Mint o iconizinho é uma "nota", e não um "lápis". Desculpa mais uma vez.

Aparece o icone eu clico nele fecha a pasta  e da a seguinte mensagem no terminal:
