[Resolvido] Compartilhando Internet, pastas e impressoras

Sou iniciante, já procurei muito no Google e aqui, mas como não entendo nada de Samba estou apanhando mais que 'gato no saco' 

Tenho o Ubuntu 7.04 no meu desktop, o qual recebe a conexão de internet que compartilhei com um notebook. Até aí sem problemas. No entanto, tentei compartilhar minha pasta pessoal no Ubuntu para acesso pelo notebook e não consigo. Instalei o samba mas não entendi bulhufas de como configurá-lo... acesso normalmente a pasta compartilhada no notebook (WinXP) através do Ubuntu, mas quando tento acessar a pasta compartilhada do Ubuntu através do Notebook pede um nome de usuário e senha, que não sei qual é... tentei o meu nome de usuário do ubuntu, do note, e nada... Não consigo acesso! Como posso acessar esta pasta e também instalar a impressora que está no Ubuntu, teoricamente compartilhada?

Desde já muito obrigado se puderem ajudar este principiante que vos escreve

Faça assim:

Procure na seção globals a linha
security = user

altere para:

security = share

Em relação a impressora:
Vá no menu sistema -> Administração -> Impressão
Selecione sua impressora e na aba Politicas, verifique se a opção compartilhada está ativa.

Obrigado Marcos! Agora consigo acessar a pasta compartilhada - sem senha, mas ainda não consigo visualizar a impressora, mesmo estando compartilhada. No mesmo notebook tenho também o Ubuntu, e nele, por outro lado, só consigo acessar a pasta compartilhada, sem internet e nem impressora...

Sobre a internet, qual o tipo de conexão? pelo windows você acessa normalmente? tem que digitar algum ip para se conectar?

Quanto a internet, descobri onde eu estava errando: faltou colocar no DNS o IP do Servidor, feito isso a internet funcionou no note com Ubuntu também. Só restou o problema da impressora: consegui tornar a impressora visivel (somente no windows), seguindo o que consta no manual do cupsaddsmb. No entanto não consigo imprimir pela rede; envio páginas de teste (pelo windows) e ela não responde, e pelo ubuntu ela fica em estado de pausa. Segue abaixo meu smb.conf

Fiz tudo o que você sugeriu, inclusive o que está no link acima, mas sem sucesso...
De acordo com o link que passou, agora tenho uma outra impressora compartilhada, instalei ela no windows mas posso cansar de mandar testes de impressão que não resolve... nem mesmo aparece na fila de impressão.

Já estou quase arrancando os (poucos) cabelos...rs
Tem mais alguma dica ou posso desistir da idéia ?

Creio que não seja isso mas, tente mandar imprimir qualquer arquivo, sem ser o teste de impressão!

Amigo, agora FUNCIONOU... no Ubuntu...
Deve ser algum problema com o driver no XP, só havia testado as ultimas configurações no XP, agora testei no Ubuntu e está Ok (aquelas do wiki do Ubuntu que você me passou). Vi em algum lugar que algumas HPs parece que precisam de um driver diferente pra funcionar em rede, não adianta instalar do CD da HP... achei isso estranho, mas vou procurar outro driver. Se eu solucionar o problema com o XP irei postar aqui os resultados, e muito obrigado pelas excelentes dicas.

Marcos, é a HP PSC 1310 (1315 All-in-one Series).
No site da HP existem para download apenas os drivers mínimo e completo, ambos sem suporte a rede. Como a configuração no Ubuntu foi bem sucedida, graças as suas dicas, estou colocando o tópico como resolvido. Parece que esta impressora só funciona em rede no Linux ou no Windows Vista.

Eu tenho uma pequena rede com Servidor UBUNTU 7.04, desktop 7.04 e 6.06 e WinXP. Tenho uma impressora HP PSC 1315 na máquina desktop 6.06 compartilhada via CUP's e  funciona em toda a rede, inclusive com o WinXP. O driver usado foi o do próprio UBUNTU. Tive problemas no início e depois funcionou que foi uma beleza.
