Gravador num portatil Toshiba não grava

Olá a todos
Tenho um portatil toshiba com gravador (unico) de DVD/CD.
Quero gravar musicas e dá erro.
Já tentei o k3b, gnomebaker e o serpentine e nunca grava.

Alguém me pode ajudar?

Talvez eu não possa te ajudar , mas.. adiantando  para o pessoal que pode ;
Você poderia informar o erro que dá ,o  OS(versão do Ubuntu) e se tem os codecs instalados (esse eu não sei se é preciso) ?

Tenho o ubuntu 6.06
