Ubuntu 11.04 não instala aplicativos

Pessoal, era antigo usuário do Seven Home Basic e decidi migrar para o Linux Ubuntu, logo coloquei a versão mais atual.
Todavia, após instalado o SO o Linux não instala absolutamente nada! Desde de plugins até mesmo aplicativos como o aMSN ou o Opera. Tanto por sites como pela Central de Programas.

Alguém aí sabe como posso solucionar o problema?

Vamos tentar em terminal

Na verdade quando digito este comando e em seguida o password não acontece nada.
