Problemas no UBUNTU 8.10

Possuo o ubuntu 8.10, pois eh o ultimo q tem driver da minha placa de video, masi qdo quero atualizar ele ele nao acha nenhum link cfe colocado abaixo:

Tem certeza de que essa é a única versão que tem suporte à sua placa de vídeo?
Acredito que, se você atualizar para a versão 10.10, sua placa será suportada automaticamente. Pelo menos foi assim com a minha.

entao nao tenho mais como usar o 8.10 vou tentar atualizar pro 10.10 entao para ver o q acontece!!!

Ué, o Live cd não é para isto?

Baixe, grave um cd ( ou pendrive ) e teste.

Copie e cole seu xorg.conf no 10.10 e veja se ele funciona.

Ola, se for placa de video ATi da serie 9000(radeon 9600, 9800) ou Xpress(x1000) ou ate a x2100 nao tem mais suporte com driver proprietario, somente o driver livre, que e aquele que ja vem por padrao no Ubuntu, se vc necessita de aceleração 3D pesada com essas placas. Vc pode usar essa dica, porem tera que fazer uma mudança na sua source.list. As versoes sem suporte mudam de endereço indo para as "old releases", desabilite todos os repositorios colocando um # na frente de todas as linhas e no final coloque o seguinte conteudo;

Acesse o arquivo /etc/apt/sources.list (comando sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list pelo terminal) copie e cole;

deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ intrepid main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ intrepid main restricted universe multiverse
