Como usar modem speedstream 4200 na porta usb?

Ola galera eu queria saber como eu faço pra usar o modem speedstream 4200 com a porta usb,pois a porta ethernet está queimada!já vi outros artigos por ae mas entrendo muito bem pois sou iniciante no linux,disseram que eu tinha que eu tinha que transformar o firmware do meu modem em arquivo ''.bin'' mas quando faço o download do firmware vem ''exe'' e agora o que eu faço?
queeria uma explicação passo a passo se não for pedir demais

Aqui eu tenho esse modem SS4200 e está roteado, uso normalmente a interface usb(tem que ligar o cabo usb no modem e no pc).Para rotear veja no site :  http://www.abusar.org.br/manuais/c_effic_4200.html

amigo o problema é reconhecimento de hardware e não roteamento!!

Veja se consegue configurar pelo terminal:  sudo pppoeconf  
Pode ser driver que o Ubuntu não tem, pois usei Usb para Windows e tive que instalar o driver para ele funcionar.
Desconsidere a sugestão para rotear.
Acho que uma placa de rede nova deve ser adquirida.

Hummm, então não é preciso alterar o firmaware do aparelho, não.

Poste aqui qual a versão do seu Ubuntu.

Comecte o router na Usb.

entre em terminal e digite
Código: [Selecionar]
sudo lsusb
Verifique se o seu router foi reconhecido.

Se não foi poste aqui.

Se foi, ainda no terminal digite
Código: [Selecionar]
sudo ifconfig

Verifique como foi reconhecido ( eth0, eth1, usb1, etc, etc )


Se não foi poste aqui.

Se foi, ainda no terminal digite

sudo dmesg
Só para ver se foi tudo configurado. ( olhe com paciência pois o resultado é bem grande )

Se seu Ubuntu é 9.04 ou 9.10 clique com o direito no icone de rede

Selecione a aba editar conexões, verifique se ele já não está lá.

Volte aqui com os resultados.

nada até agora???


Como disse acima, também tenho esse modem , corri a internet  e  vi  que não existe driver para fazer funcionar o USB no Linux, o negócio é comprar uma placa de rede,caso o modem esteja 100%, não é caro.

amigo,coloquei no começo do topico que aporta ethernet esta queimada(não da minha placa de rede mas sim do meu modem)
tem varias pessoas que navegam com speed touch,então pq não roda com o speed stream??

amigo,coloquei no começo do topico que aporta ethernet esta queimada(não da minha placa de rede mas sim do meu modem)
tem varias pessoas que navegam com speed touch,então pq não roda com o speed stream??
Desculpe-me de não ter reparado, a gente lê tanta coisa que esse detalhe passou, mas toda informação que obtive é que não existe driver para Linux, eu mesmo já usei o USB para navegar pelo Windows no notebook da minha filha, mas tive que baixar e instalar o driver que para Windows existe.
