[RESOLVIDO]Conexão discada modem Conexant Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty

Alguém pode me ajudar a configurar internet discada no Ubuntu 9.04, tentei seguir esse tutorial mas não deu certo: http://ubuntuforum-br.org/index.php/topic,48619.0.html, alguns pacotes não pudera ser instalados e eu também fico na dúvida sobre o modem que lá no tutorial fala de smartlink e o meu é Conexant. Se alguém puder me ajudar, já venho tentando usar linux há um tempo mas por usar discada e não consegui instalá - la acabo desistindo.

Acho que dessa vez vai dar certo, consegui instalar o Gnome PPP e mais alguns pacotes que ele socilitou e essa parte acho que tá ok pois o programinha ta abrindo legal, o problema é que quando eu pensei que tinha instaldo o modem corretamente ai veio a surpresa algo está dando errado com ele. Tenho alguns logs aki e mais algumas informações que eu espero que sirvam para ajudar.

Consegui instalar o modem seguindo este tutorial: http://trx64.wordpress.com/2009/07/15/modem-conexant-no-ubuntu/, que ensina inclusive a instalar o discador Gnome PPP (processo igual ao que utilizei quando disse que já tinha istalado o discador). Tudo indica que o driver que tinha baixado(Driver da DELL) e inclusive o que vem no CD do modem não estava dando certo e também faltava instalar alguns pacotes (fakeroot e buid-essentials) que o tutorial ensina como. Bom seguindo os passos consegui instalar e configurar o modem o problema é que agora depois que peço para discar ele não conecta e no log do discador aparece isso:

É tudo muito misterioso, após muitas tentativas a única coisa que eu conseguia após a discagem era NO CARRIER!
Não me lembro o que me motivou a reiniciar o pc mas após isto ao discar ouvia - se o tom de discagem do modem, coisa que não acontecia antes, e o NO CARRIER tinha sumido de início, agora tava diferente, ele tentava acessar /usr/sbin/pppd e dizia que não tinha permissão para isso e que definisse o parâmetro PPPD Path em wvdialconf. De cara vi que precisava de um chmod em /usr/sbin/pppd só não sabia que permissão dar. Fui na louca lembrando os tempos de PHP em servers linux e joguei chmod 777 heheh DEU PAU! Dai removi o chmod e alterei wvdialconf adicionando o parâmentro que tinha pedido apontando para /usr/sbin/pppd e também não funfou, pra fechar o chmod que eu tava precisando achei em: http://ubuntuforum-br.org/index.php/topic,52862.msg303249.html#msg303249 e mais o uso do gpasswd. Resolveu!!! Conectou de boa. No final das contas o necessário pra funcionar na minha máquina foi começar por esse tutorial: http://trx64.wordpress.com/2009/07/15/modem-conexant-no-ubuntu/ que ensina instalar o modem e o discador Gnome PPP e depois fazer o ajuste fino em: http://ubuntuforum-br.org/index.php/topic,52862.msg303249.html#msg303249. Não sei o porque de só dar certo quando reinicio o Ubuntu, na primeira inicialização não vai. Mas já serve, 200 anos que tento usar linux e no final foi bom. vlw!!!!
