Driver RT61PCI(DLink DWL-G510) nativo do gusty é instável. Mas tem solução.

Minha placa wireless DLink (que usa o driver rt61) funcionava perfeito no Feisty. Mas qdo instalei o Gusty, de uma instalação limpa, funcionou legal após configurar tudo.
Porém a internet parava de uma hora para outra.  E aparentemente estava tudo normal. As vezes reiniciando voltava, outras não.
Pesquisei na NET e vi que várias pessoas tbm estavam tendo o mesmo problema.
Solução:
Colocar o driver nativo (rt61pci) na lista negra de driver para que ele não carregue.

echo "blacklist rt61pci" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

Depois instalar o driver:

rt61-cvs-daily.tar.gz
Configurar  a net novamente e tudo ok agora.
Comigo deu certinho.

Não coloquei como instalar, pois aí já é outro assunto. Mais complicado.
Eu já tinha apanhado muito pra fazer funcionar no Debian.
Mas vou tentar simplificar.

1º -  lsmod    pra vericficar se driver rt61pci consta na lista. Claro que sim, pois é nativo do gusty.
2º - Digite como sudo:  echo "blacklist rt61pci" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist   para anular esse driver.
Reinicie o pc e digite novamente   lsmod e veja se o driver sumiu. Tbm, com certeza sim.
3º - Baixe o driver rt61-cvs-daily.tar.gz

4º - Extraia, entre na pasta módulo e digite:
#make
Se compilar blz. Se não é porque vc precisa instalar o pacote build-essential e os fontes do seu kernel, que está no  seu cd do gusty.
Neste caso digite com o cd no drive:
#apt-cdrom add
#aptitude update
#aptitude install build-essential linux-headers-`uname -r` linux-source-`uname -r | cut -f1 -d-`
Pronto.
5º - Agora que compilou, instale:
#su -c "make install"
6º Digite:
#modprobe rt61
Agora verifique novamente com o comando  lsmod se o driver rt61 consta na lista. Com certeza sim.
Pronto agora configure sua internet.

Eu fiz assim:
#iwconfig wlan0 essid sua_rede (verifique ESSID do seu provedor).
#iwconfig wlan0 mode managed
#ifconfig wlan0 xxx.xxx.x.x netmask 255.255.255.0 up (seu IP e máscara).
#route add default gw xxx.xxx.x.x dev wlan0 (coloque o seu gateway)
No meu caso, a minha placa wireless foi reconhecida como wlan0.
Verifique com o comando:
$iwconfig
Se for reconhecida como ra0, apenas substitua.
Para finalizar, vá no arquivo "/etc/resolv.conf" e digite aqui o DNS do seu provedor. Faça isso como sudo.

nameserver xxx.xxx.x.x

Salve  e pronto. internet rodando a mil!!!

Para enrriquecer ainda mais este post, uma segunda solução:

Instale o pacote "Ndisgtk", que é um Frontend para o Ndiswrapper, e, instale o driver da placa wi-fi para Windows. Estou usando esta solução pela primeira vez e fiquei surpreso pela simplicidade, ao contrário de outras soluções, que houve a necessidade de compilar o módulo, com esse frontend eu apenas apontei o ".inf" do driver e ele realmente funciona.

É importente ressaltar, para quem está acompanhando esse "case", é que se torna necessário jogar o modulo antigo na blacklist antes de usar o driver para windows.

Problema resolvido . Resolvi refazer todo o processo e descobri que eu tinha baixado o driver errado  .

Baixei o correto, segui os procedimentos do ronimc e tudo blz.

o drive RT73USB tambem é muito instavel,
no meu caso eu estou usando agora o ndiswrapper, eutou com minha maquina ligada a mais de 20 dias diretos por causa de uns torrents sem apresentar nem um problema

o procedimento que fiz foi parecido, jogar o modulo que não presta no "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist", instalar e configurar o ndiswrapper

alguém saberia me dizer se esse módulo utilizado no tutorial do ronimc oferece suporte a WPA?
É que já tenho uma rede wireless em uso aqui em minha casa configurada para usar WPA1, e vou instalar a placa pci G-510 da D-Link que utiliza este módulo, então gostaria de saber se esse módulo oferece suporte a este protocolo de segurança.
