Ubuntu em macbook 5,2

Ola a todos. Eu instalei o Ubuntu Studio 11.10 em meu MacBook 5,2 e tenho enfrentado o seguinte problema: tenho um processador de dois nucleos (intel core 2 duo) mas o sistema reconhece apenas 1. O que faco? Ja segui alguns tutoriais na internet, ja mexi em arquivos e opcoes de boot e recompilei o kernel, mas o problema persiste.  Alguem teria alguma soucao para esse tipo de problema? Agradeco desde ja.
