Problema com som Ubuntu 10.10

Boa Tarde, estou pesquisando e ainda não encontrei a solução....
Estou tendo problemas com audio no ubuntu 10.10 64bits..
ao tocar musica o som sai como se fosse um cd arranhado, os videos tambem estão picando, as imagens estão garrando...
este problema não acontece com a versão 10.04 do Ubuntu e no windows funciona normalmente, por isso creio que não seja um problema no meu hardware...

alguem passou por este problema? ou sabe a solução?

Configuração do notebook:
Dell Inspiron 1545, Dual Core, 3 GB DE RAM.
