Pessoal,
estou com um NoteBook J94A da CCE, cujo placa de vídeo não foi reconhecida pelo Ubuntu 8.10, acredito que o restante do hardware ele reconheceu, porém o vídeo ele não está funcionando bem, pq ele dev estar na configuração 1280x800 e o máximo que ele me permite é 800x600.
A Placa é uma SiS Mirage 3 Graphics.
Fornecedor do Driver: SiS
Data do Driver: 25/06/2007
Versão do Driver: 6.14.10.3810.
Galera, se eu repeti post, me perdoem mas é que eu sou novíssimo no Linux e também no fórum. No Satux que foi o Linux que veio nesse Note tudo funcionava tranquilo, logo acredito que no ubuntu também irá funcionar. Por favor me ajudem, só falta isso preu largar a bosque do Windows Virento!

Acabei de arrumar esse problema que me consumiu horas aqui....
faça o seguinte:
Vá em Aplicativos >> Acessórios >> Consola.
Digite lá:
sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Ele vai pedir sua senha... ai vc digita ela e dá enter
Aaparecerá um bloco de notas com as informações da sua resolução de tela.....
Vc vai dar um CRTL+A e apagar tudo, cole as informações que estão abaixo e clique em Salvar, depois reinicie o Ubuntu.

o meu problema não é mesmo pois o note é diferente, ele é itautec pois não está reconhecendo a placa de video. então não funciona nada preciso de ajuda.... já tentei instala varios sistemas. menos é claro ruindows, bom se vcs podem me ajudar!!

Tire uma duvida para mim.
Acredito que a solução que postou até melhore a resolução de video permitindo usar mais que 800x600 mas o que gostaria de saber é quanto os efeitos especias e 3D. Funcionaram também?

Baixei esses pacotes e consegui acessar a configuração de placa de video!!
Tentei várias resoluções mas nenhuma funfou...
Mas já foi um começo, vou continuar procurando pra ver se resolvo esse problema!!

A resolução está legal o 3d parace bom sim....
mas é o seguinte....
depois de resetar vc deve entrar na opção de resolução de tela novamente... lá estará uma nova opção de resolução que será para o nosso tipo de monitor...
Lembrando que sou newbie ...hahhahahaha.... mas como já passei por 2 distros de linux diferentes e estou trabalhando com esse tipo de sistema operacional a quase um ano posso dizer que aprendi um pouco... e que sim... dá pra trabalhar com o linux e principalmente com o ubuntu galera... sei que o lance da resolução é um problema chato que não foi solucionado de forma prática nessa versão.. mas hj digo que estou muito satisfeita com o ubuntu...
tentem novamente fazer o procedimento... lembrando de retornar na opção de resolução de tela pra mudança....

Entrei com modificações que voce deixou Pikena, mas o ubuntu da erro apos reiniciar e entra em mode gráfico baixo... ou seja ainda estou com 800x600 :-[!!

Resolvi meu problema parcialmente com a citação da pekena(lá no começo), porem agora só oferece as seguintes resoluções:
800x600, 640 400 e 1024x768.
Eu gostaria de saber como fazer pra deixar 1280x800.

Olha Pikena fiz o que vc disse e funfo certinho aqui ... so uma coisa ..tem certeza que vc ta com os efeitos 3d funcionando normalmente ... pq aqui não ativou isso não ... blz veja ae e nos ajuda com um retorno pra temos mais explicações ... sou novo no ubuntu .... passei tempos quebrando a cabeça mais agora tenho menos uma coisa pra resolver ... agora falta o wireless do note que nao aceita a senha do wireless que eu coloco aqui ... tipo ele encontras as redes mais não conecta ... se alguem tem ideias de como ajudar fico grato mesmo ... vlws mais uma vez ... ate mais!!

Tambem sou novo usuario com CCE e Bubu 8.10.
Testei as alteraçoes sugeridas pela Pikena e pelo Marvson e ambas funcionaram muito bem.
Valeu pelas dicas.
Agora so falta configurar o som.

Tenho um notebook CCE Info Win JCV-C5 (http://www.cceinfo.com.br/pagina.php?IdPagina=2&Tipo=SPagina&ProdutoId=74&URL=produto-detalhe) que tem essa placa de video.
Tentei a primeira solucao, porem a resolucao soh fica em 1024x768, e essa ultima ficou muito boa (1280x768). A unica coisa que nao ficou 100% foi o 3D. Eu nao estou conseguindo colocar os efeitos do Ubuntu no note.

Com um pouquinho de atraso descobri a solução para esse problema, ou melhor, descobriram, estou apenas repassando.
>Entre no seguinte site: http://ncc-1701a.homelinux.net/~linux-sis/downloads/ ( é um HD virtual).
>Baixe o arquivo "xorg-driver-sis671_0.9_i386.deb" e instale diretamente pelo gerenciador de pacotes (é só dar um click duplo).
> Reinicie o sistema e vc terá sua placa de vídeo funcionando normalmente com o drive nativo e com resolução máxima. Ok.

Pessoal,
também uso essa mesma placa num note Firstline fl197 (Positivo). O xorg da pikena melhora a resolução, porém no máximo à 1024 x 768. O segundo postado aumente mais ainda a resolução, porém em ambos, fica dando uns lags (travadas) em vídeos e qdo arrastamos janelas (tipo XP sem driver de vídeo).
Com vcs dois também fica assim? E com o driver em deb postado pelo m_almeida, reparei que os lags param, mais minha tela fica dividida em duas!! Que loucura isso!
Se alguém já passou por issom me digam como resolveram, se resolveram!

Então.... essa solução no funfa pra 3d.... eu tentei instalar wow no pc aqui pra eu jogar e nada.... somente o satux recebe do fabricante desse drive a atualização e a conf pra 3d.... sim uma derma....
Sei lá... podia ser o caso dos nossos queridos programadores, levarem assim, um papinho legal com o povo do satux pra liberação desse drive... QUE JÁ DEIXO CLARO! NÃO FUNFA NO UBUNTU!!!! NA VERDADE DESTROI O TRECO...

tenho um notebook da CCE W77 com a mesma placa da SIS, hoje tive o mesmo problema com o Ubuntu 9.04. Então gente fique ligado que ainda continua com o mesmo problema.
e outra, antes de auterar o arquivo xorg.conf, faça um cópia:
cp sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/OLDxorg.conf
Pikena, valeu pela dica, me ajudou nessa versão!!!

Eu tenho um Celeron intel de processador 1,40Ghz, memória RAM de 1Gb. Marca Elitegroup, modelo 557S. Com placa de vídeo SiS, parece que acontece o mesmo problema que no de vocês. Se eu fizer o que a Pekena postou, resolverá o problema?

Ps.: Eu acabei removendo o Ubuntu, mas se me garantirem que resolve o problema, eu reinstalo. Gostei muito dele.
Também me sugeriram o Mandriva e que ele reconheceria a placa de vídeo, mas aconteceu a mesma coisa em menor proporção.
Por favor me ajudem, já perguntei sobre isso em vários tópicos, mas ninguém me responde.
Entendo pouco de Linux e quero me desfazer do Ruindows praguento.

Mais informações, talvez não tenha ficado claro.
Eu quero migrar para o Linux, mas acontece um problema. Tenho um NoteBook Elitegroup modelo 557S, Intel Celeron M de processador de 1.40 Ghz, 1,2 de memória RAM.
Eu instalei o Ubuntu e as fotos, imagens e vídeos ficaram com uma resolução ruim com cores rosas e azuis, além da internet ter ficado mais lenta. Aí me disseram que o Ubuntu não é adequado para o tipo de monitor que tenho e me recomentadaram instalar o Mandriva One 2009 porque esse sim teria configuração para monitor SiS. Acontece que ocorreu o mesmo problema em menor proporção, mas ocorreu.
Gostaria de saber como faço para arrumar em ambos os sistemas, se possível, porque gostei mais do Ubuntu, aí ficaria com ele. Ou ainda, qual outra distribuição se adequaria melhor ao meu notebook e não ocorresse mais esse problema?
Ao contrário de vocês, o meu estava rodando com resoloção máxima: 1024x600, se não me engano.

Olá,
tenho um note Philco PHN 14103 com placa de vídeo SIS M672 fx + SIS 968, que veio como o fenix. Instalei o ubuntu 9.10 e tudo funciona bem, exceto a resolução da tela que só permite a opção 800x600 e 600x400. Tentei altera o arquivo xorg.conf, mas não encontro o dal arquivo. Quando abro o gedit ele informa que o qrquivo não foi localizadao e abre vazio. Então venho solicitar ajuda.
