Alguém já conseguiu fazer funcionar a placa de vídeo com chipset Sis 672 (Mirage3) no ubuntu 8.10? Já tentei compilar, na mão, os diversos drivers que rolam por aí, ou utilizar o próprio sis do xorg. mas .... Até agora não funcionou. Alguém já passou por isso?

Eu consegui instalar num notebook cce.

ativando a c3 function no setup da bios e colocando o argumento vga=771 com o alternate cd.

Ramicés, estou com esse mesmo problema no meu notebook minha placa de video é essa mesmo!!

E tambem não consigui aumentar a resolução no ubuntu 8.10...

Pigdin, desculpe minha inginoração, pois sou novo no mundo linux, vc poderia explicar mas detalhado como consuegui?? ???

Não tinha ficado claro que o problema era de resolução achei que fosse instalação.

Ainda não testei.

Esse driver é o desenvolvido pelo Barros Lee.

Eu apliquei integralmente a receita publicada em http://www.gdhpress.com.br/blog/driver-sis-mirage3/ e testei variantes da receita fazendo alterações no xorg.conf

Nenhum resultado.

Fiquei com uma dúvida: os driver são para 32bit? Estou com o Ubuntu 8.10 64bit. É suposto funcionar?

Funciona perfeitamente dá até pra ver a barra de cores  no teste de hardware.
Obs : a imagem fica perfeita sem aquelas linhas que antes aparecia quando configurava na "tora".

Melhor impossível.
