Bom dia/tarde/noite a todos.
Sou novato em Ubuntu, comecei a utilizar para desenvolver com Ruby on Rails, e devo dizer, era verdade sobre "desistir do windows", apesar das dificuldades para trocar o costume de usar Windows. É sobre essas que venho buscar ajuda :]
De inicio parecerá duplicado, mas no final do tópico vou informar o que ja tentei fazer (segundo erros semelhantes que encontrei neste fórum e em páginas da internet) e perceberão que as soluções dos tópicos existentes não me ajudaram.
Eu instalei o ubuntu 10.10 em uma VM (VirtualBox) no trabalho (sim eles não me permitiram instalar apenas Ubuntu).
Fiz todas atualizações e estou agora com a versão do Ubuntu 11.04.
E comecei a instalar aplicativos para desenvolvimento, mysql e todas outras coisas necesárias. Porém quando cheguei na vez do GIT para controle de versão de projetos.
Tento:
sudo apt-get install git-core
ou
sudo apt-get install git
Recebo a mensagem:
E: Impossível buscar alguns arquivos, talvez executar apt-get update ou tentar com --fix-missing?
Então tento:
sudo apt-get update
E recebo diversas mensagens de erro (segue algumas):

E: Alguns arquivos index falharam ao ser baixados. Eles foram ignorados, ou cópias antigas são usadas ao invés.

Impossível corrigir pacotes faltantes.
Com isso comecei a pesquisar o que poderia ser, tentei verificar erros na sources.list inclusive copiei uma sources.list do Ubuntu 11.04 que encontrei na internet e o erro persistiu.
Encontrei um post que pedia para verificar a resposta a um comando:
cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/geod-ppa-geod-natty.list
E ele me informa:
cat: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/geod-ppa-geod-natty.list: Arquivo ou diretório não encontrado

Não faço idéia de como corrigir isso, agradeceria muito se alguém encontrasse uma solução caso seja um problema, ou que saiba me dizer onde estou errando caso seja por causa da minha falta de experiencia com Ubuntu.
