Synaptic atualizado, central de programas não!

Olá a todos, estou migrando aos pouco no mundo Gnu/Linux, e to usando Ubuntu e tentando pegar umas manhas dele para poder abandonar o Windows de vez (apesar que quando pegar a manha vo pro Debian, nada contra o Ubuntu, mas é que, sei lá, sempre gostei dele ^^).
Entrei nesse site http://repogen.simplylinux.ch/ e atualizei o arquivo sources.list em /etc/apt/.  Depois fiz o procedimento de "sudo apt-get update", pra dar uma atualizada no sistema.  Tudo bem, só que a Central de Programas do Ubuntu parece que ele não consegue ver os novos repositórios que adicionei, está tudo selecionado já nas opções dele, e ele continua como se eu estivesse acabo de instalar o Ubuntu do zero, já no Synaptic aparece tudo atualizado.  Até programas como o Google Chrome não aparecem nele, e olha que estou usando ele nesse momento para escrever isso, e no Synaptic aparece ele como instalado no sistema.  Como eu atualizo de vez a Central de programas para mostrar os repositórios que adicionei e alguns dos softwares que instalei???

No caso do Chrome, porque não instala o Chromium? Ele é open-source e foi quem deu origem ao Google Chorme.

Pode ser, porém, o chrome é um exemplo de que a central de programas n se atualiza em sincronia com o sistema igual ao Synaptic, e queria deixar ele em perfeita sincronia!!!
Desde já agradeço pelas ajudas!!!

É porque no Ubuntu, eles disponibilizam os programas nativos, no caso, chromium com um ícone azul, achei até mais rápido que o chrome da google.

O ruim é q eu tinha conseguido fazer aparecer os programas do synaptic na central de programas, até emulador de play 2 eu fiz aparecer lá, mas tive que formatar e instalar denovo o ubuntu.  Já adicionei os PPA mas ainda n consigo manter sincronia entre central de programas e synaptic.  Queria saber pq será ele n atualiza, será que ele tem algum arquivo sources.list próprio que eu n esteja sabendo?

Provavelmente esteja editado errado, ou é próprio para a versão do Ubuntu.

Tá ai, eu coloquei isso no sources.list, aproveita e quem quiser esses repositórios servem para o Ubuntu 12.04, o comando para adicionar eles é editando pelo sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list , porém, faça um backup do arquivo sources.list caso haja algum erro depois...

os caras falam pelo forum que muitos PPAs no sistema podem dá erros.
Baixe seu ubuntu, ou derivados aqui: http://releases.ubuntu.com/
