Problema com a conexão cabeada

Olá pessoal, boa tarde.

Bom, sou novo no fórum e novo como usuário linux, e estou tendo um problema diferente dos aqui citados. Estou com problemas com a conexão cabeada do meu SO, eu uso o Ubuntu 12.04 e tenho esse problema desdo 11.1.
Constantemente aparece uma mensagem me informando que meu cabo de rede está desconectado, mas não está, pois estou navegando normalmente do win7, além disso, a maquina fica procurando uma rede sem fio (que sinceramente nem sei como isso é possível, já que a máquina nem se quer possui placa/adaptador wireless).

Já procurei bastante em outros lugares/fóruns, mas nada parece resolver, fico grato desde já pela atenção de quem puder me ajudar.

Sobre procurar rede sem-fio, você lembra de ter configurado alguma, no Gerenciador de Redes?
