Falha em atualizar o pacote synaptic no ubuntu 9.04

Boa noite sou iniciante , mais cada vez mais estou gostando do ubuntu , não consigo atualizar nada , quando entro em canasi de software aparece a mensagem :
Falhou ao buscar http://br.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/jaunty/main/binary-i386/Packages  404 Not Found
se mudo o servidor a mensagem tambem muda .

A Canonical não dá mais suporte para o Jaunty, atualize seu sistema para o Karmic ou o mais atual.

Sugiro a versão 10.4 por ser mais estável q a corrente 11.4, apesar q no meu caso a 11.4 está muito boa !

ubuntu 9.04 sem suporte desde outubro de 2010
ubuntu 9.10 sem suporte desde abril 2011
use ubuntu.10.04-lts que tera suporte ate abril de 2013
ou use o ubuntu 11.04 que tera suporte ate outubro de 2012

Boa noite desculpe a demora estava viajando , bom fiz tudo que falaram mais não deu certo baixei o 10.04 e quando vou atualizar da o mesmo erro baixei o 11 e tambem , alguem tem outra ideia .

Em tão pergunto eu não consigo pular as atualizações , teria que primeiro atualizar para 9.10 karmic e depois para o 10.04 e assim por diante

Não, não pode "pular" versões, e tem que ser feito com seu repositorio do 9,04 funcionando sem erros.
