Adaptador Wireless USB (problema)

Bom Dia!!!

Com a devida permissão, instalei o ubuntu 10, kernel 2.6.32.24, para conectar-me a net uso uma antena wifi, com um adaptador usb,
na parte gráfica do ubuntu consigo ver o adaptador, esta mostrando desativado, ja tentei ativa-lo com:

#ifconfig up nome do adaptador

com o comando ifconfig o adaptador aparece normalmente.

ao digitar o comando lsusb -v vejam o resultado:
