Vamos também preparar pra testar sua conexão via wvdial.

Instale o pacote "wvdial" ("apt-get install wvdial").

Depois, crie o arquivo "/etc/wvdial.conf" com o conteúdo abaixo.

Esse arquivo, da forma como está, está calibrado pro meu modem. Fiz uma alteração, pra gente poder testar as portas do seu modem.

Depois de criar o arquivo, execute o comando

sudo wvdial TimWeb2

Veja se conecta. Se não conectar, tente os outros (TimWeb1, TimWeb3 e TimWeb0). Assim nós vamos descobrir com certeza a porta do seu modem.

Feito isso, vc já vai poder conectar via comando; fica faltando só a gente descobrir como configurar pra conectar diretamente do NM.

Uma pergunta para que, que serve esse wvdial?

Serve pra vc conectar uma conexão discada.

O modem 3G simula uma conexão discada, assim vc pode usar o wvdial pra fazer a conexão, e assim não precisamos depender do funcionamento do NM.

Lembra que fizemos, antes, um teste direto com o "modem-manager"? Gostaria de tentar isso de novo.

Seu modem está com o SIM, que está ativo, não? Vc já o utilizou em outra máquina ou SO, correto?

Eu já testei em um PC com Windows e conecta de boa sim.

OK. Seu modem já aparece no Gerenciador de Redes? Provavelmente haverá uma opção pra criar uma nova conexão com ele.

Sim ele identificou o modem pelo gerenciador de rede, até msm antes de instalar o wvdial, criei a conexão, qnd o estou com o modem plugado vejo a conexão criada.
Só que ao clicar ele tenta conectar e ñ conecta.

Isso com certeza é a configuração desse indivíduo, eu tinha visto em algum lugar a um tempo atrás (ótimas referências, ñ é? rs rs) , que a TIM havia mudado algumas configurações, porém ainda ñ as achei.

Só pra desencargo, com o modem Huawei eu ñ precisava desse wvdial, mas antes usava com o plano da Vivo.

Veja só, no Ubuntu, há uma opção de criar a conexão indicando a operadora. Dá uma fuçada pelo gerenciador de redes, vê se encontra.

Digo no Ubuntu pois no Kubuntu eu tenho que colocar essas informações por mim mesmo. As que eu uso são:
- Banda Larga Móvel
   - Número: *99#
   - Nome do usuário: tim
   - Senha: tim
   - APN: www.tim.com.br
   - Tipo: 3G (UTMS/HSPA) (¹)
   - PIN: <em branco> (²)
   - PUK: <em branco> (²)
- PPP: Marcados: autenticação, PAP, CHAP, MSCHAPV2, MSCHAP, EAP, Permitir compressão BSD, Permitir compressão deflate, Usar compressão de cabeçalho TCP, Enviar pacotes de eco PPP.

(¹) - O assistente de conexão do Gerenciador de redes do Gnome (usado no Ubuntu) tem esse campo, mas é um campo de texto. Eu não sei qual é o valor a ser usado pra selecionar o tipo de rede, então sugiro que deixe em branco. No KDE, é uma lista predefinida, então é só selecionar.
(²) - PIN e PUK são proteções do seu SIM. Vc só vai usar se tiver selecionado isso em algum outro lugar, pois aqui nunca vi como ativar.

No meu caso mudei o APN e marquei o Enviar pacotes de eco PPP.
Não vi o ítem Tipo: 3G (UTMS/HSPA).

Uma pergunta...
Como tive que desinstalar o antigo usb-modeswitch e instalar o novo, precisaria criar aquele arquivo que vc falou em uns posts atras, o "/etc/usb_modeswitch.d/19d2:2000:uPr=ONDA_WCDMA_Technologies_MSM", pois ele ñ existe mais.

Vou tentar aqui fazer isso e te passar o comando tail -f /var/log/syslog

Também continuo sem conseguir fazer esse modem funcionar, no meu caso, por conta dos servidores DNS. Instalei o pacote resolvconf como o zekkerj sugeriu mas não mudou nada.

Procurei dicas na net e tudo que consegui achar foi pra comentar a linha "usepeerdns" no arquivo /etc/ppp/peers/wvdial e colocar a opção "Auto DNS = Off" no /etc/wvdial.conf. Depois dizem pra adicionar os endereços DNS certos no arquivo /etc/resolv.conf

Porém quando faço isso, ele simplesmente não acha nenhum servidor DNS, por mais tempo que eu dê a ele. Se habilito o Auto DNS e/ou o usepeerdns ele passa a encontrar servidores DNS, mas em mais de noventa por cento das vezes ele sobrescreve o resolv.conf com servidores errados que ele acha (esses servidores são 10.11.12.13 e 10.11.12.14). O mais bizarro é que umas duas outras vezes, não sei como ou porque, ele conseguiu achar os servidores DNS corretos e a conexão funcionou, porém quando desconectei e tentei conectar de novo na sequência ele voltou a colocar os servidores errados.

Alguém tem alguma idéia de como posso resolver isso?
