Meu grub nao aparece mais o Windows

Olá pessoal, estou precisando de ajuda
Estava aqui tentando mudar a tela do grub, axei uns tutoriais e acabei fazendo coisa errada.
apenas havia colocado uma linha no arquivo debian theme para ele axar uma imagem.
e dps dei o comando sudo grub-install dev/sda
e axu q foi onde eu errei...
apos fazer isso o boot mudou

agora ele carrega grub loadin 1.5 stage
e nao aparece o windows mais
ja tentei adicionar no arquivo menu.lst mas tbm nao deu

aki esta da seguinte forma

dev/sda1 - windows 7
dev/sda4 - ubuntu
dev/sda3 - swap

Olá qual a versao do ubuntu?

como ubuntu 9.10 usa o grub 2, não existe mais menu.lst

voce vai ter der de dar boot no pc com o live-cd do ubuntu.

e restaurar o grub.

Mano, entra em o Live CD seguindo os procedimentos:

$ fdisk -l
# Você localiza a partição onde está montado seu linux


$ mount /dev/hdY /mnt (lembre-se que todos esses comando devem ser feitos como root)
#/dev/hdY é a partição onde o seu Linux está

Com a partição já montada, recupere o GRUB com o seguinte comando:

$ grub-install –root-directory=/mnt /dev/hdY

Nesse caso só reinstalando.
O problema é que o grub2 não deve ser editado de maneira nenhuma.
Só os seus scripts e olhe lá.

entao,
desde que eu instalei o ubuntu aqui no pc, ele nunca mostrou o grub, nem tela de inicializacao indo sempre direto pro ubuntu, so que eu tenho w7 instalado, e ele nao reconhece de forma alguma, no grub.cfg nao tem o menu entry pro windows, to tentando varias ordens de boot mas nao ta indo,
nao estou conseguindo logar no w7, nem fazer ele aparecer,
tem algum jeito? ou preciso do cd do windows pra reparar a inicializacao?
