Como configurar um modem e uma placa de som ISA?

Estou rodando o ubuntu 5.04 num Pentium MMX 233MHz, e possuo um modem U.S.Robotics Inc. Sportster 56000 FAX Internal, da 3Com. Também possuo uma placa de Som com entrada para joystick e modem imbutido da Creative Labs, uma Creative Sound Blaster 16 com Creative Modem Blaster 33.6Kbps.
Ambas as placas são ISA e Plug-in-Play.
Já instalei o isapnp tools, o modconf e o modutils(dependecia), no bash dei as seguintes instruções:

#pnpdump --config > /etc/isapnp.conf
(nada apareceu, como é de se esperar quando tudo da certo como vi no site do debian) depois;

#isapnp /etc/isapnp.conf
(apareceu uns dados, pelo que eu vi no site do debian, devem ser as portas, IRQs e DMAs que as duas placas estão usando. Porém não apareceu a mensagem "Enable OK" como deveria se ser se tudo estivesse configurado certo. Parece que está ocorrendo conflito de IRQs e também de portas, ambas querendo usar a COM4)

Gostaria de ajuda para resolver esse conflito e decobrir que módulos eu devo carregar no modconf para que elas funcionem.
Também gostaria de saber se este procedimento basta para que elas funcionem.

Obs: O modem da placa de som, tem um plug de saída em outro padrão, portanto eu não uso ele, até por causa da velocidade que é maior no outro.

Estou com um problema muito parecido com o seu. Consegui fazer o isapnp detectar o hardware e mostrar a mensagem com enabled-ok após descomentar no isapnp.conf as linhas "(ACT Y) ". A placa de som consegui fazer funcionar após carregar o módulo com o comando modprobe snd-awe64 (acho que é isso, não estou no computador com o problema agora).
Porém, o modem não tem jeito de funcionar. O meu é um hardmodem Diamond Supra Express 56i sp. Não consigo configurar os jumpers por não possuir mais o manual. Já pesquisei bastante no google e apenas encontrei informações de que o modem é compatível.

Tentei seguir os passos dos tutoriais que encontrei, mas todos encerram no momento em que o isapnp detecta as placas (até aí cheguei).

Depois disso, tentei configurar com o pppconfig e o modem não comunicou em nenhuma das portas (ttyS1, etc). O mesmo se deu com o gnome-ppp.Também tentei crial link no /dev/modem para as portas tt..... e também não funcionou.

Você já resolveu o seu problema?

Agradeço antecipadamente se alguém souber fornecer a solução para o problema.

Bem quanto ao modem, eu consegui fazer funcionar, e escrevi um tutorial sobre o assunto. Ele está na parte de Hardwares e Periféricos e possui uma cópia na parte de Tutoriais, Dicas e truques. O título do tópico é: Instalando e Configurando um Hardmodem ISA!!!!!

Acho que isso conseguirá resolver o seu problema. Desculpe ter demorado tando para achar uma solução. É que eu tive que fazer primeiro uns upgrades no hardware da minha máquina para que o Ubuntu ficasse possível de usar na minha máquina; e eu também andava meio sem tempo pra ficar fuçando na net pra descobrir como fazer. Tive que fuçar muito no ubuntu para descobrir quais eram os arquivos certos, pois de uma distribuição para outra, os nomes de certos arquivos podem mudar, além do fato de serem muito poucas as pessoas que sabem onde fica cada arquivo de configuração e o que ele configura, além de contar com a sorte para achar sozinho certos arquivos de configuração e descobrir para que servem. Tive que mesclar a informação contida em três tutoriais do Slackware para fazer o modem U.S. Robotics Sporster 56000 funcionar no meu micro.

Espero que te ajude. Agora, quanto a placa de Som, eu tenho uma Creative Phone Blaster 33.6. Mistura de Modem + Placa de Som. O modem desta placa eu não estou usando, por isso eu nem o ativei no isapnp.conf. Eu ainda não consegui fazer ela funcionar; eu carrego todas as IRQs, portas e DMAs no isapnp.conf , aparece Enable OK em tudo, dou dmesg, e o Ubuntu reconhece as duas placas; Som e modem US robotics, mas quando eu vou carregar o módulo de som, seja o do alsa o sb.ko ou o do OSS, o snd-sb16.ko; o modprobe acusa (device no such). Tentei usar o modulo que você falou, o snd-awe64 através do modprobe, mas ele acusa módulo não encontrado.
Será que está placa não tem módulo para o Ubuntu, ou pior para o Linux, ou eu esto errando no jeito de instalar e configurar a placa? Pelo o que eu pude ver, você conseguiu resolver esse problema, se você puder me ajudar eu agradeceria, Obrigado!
