Problema de microfone no ubuntu 9.04

Olá pessoal, sou iniciante  no linux e estou com problema para usar o microfone do meu head-set.
Estou tentando usar ele no skype mas não funciona (fiz o teste de chamada).
Gostaria de saber se tenho que instalar algum driver ou verificar se está faltando, e como fazer.
Agradeço qualquer ajuda.

Obs: No windows funciona normalmente.

vc deve dizer aqui sua pl. de som.
fora que é melhor deixar tudo como default, tente testar seu microfone usando o gravador do ubuntu: menu aplicativos > multimídia > gravador de som

Tentei fazer o teste para gravar um som mas não funcionou.

Vá em Aplicativos> Acessórios> Terminal

Digite no terminal:
lspci

Copie e cole (use os botões do rato) mande a resposta para a galera ver.
