Não consigo atualizar nada.

Tenho o Ubuntu instalado no meu pc há alguns anos agora, mas nunca o usei de verdade, e agora toda hora aparece uma janela dizendo que minha versão do ubuntu não é mais suportada. Então vou no gerenciador de atualizações e tenho 456 atualizações disponiveis.
Porém sempre que tento atualizar, verificar ou instalar atualizações da algum erro, as janelas de erro dizem respectivamente:
"Falha ao obter"
"Falha ao baixar informações do repositório"
"Necessita instalação de pacotes não confiáveis"
Gostaria muito que alguém me ajudasse a atualizar a versão que tenho para poder me tornar um membro mais ativo na comunidade,

Baixe a ISO, cheque o MD5 dela e grave em DVD ou pendrive (de acordo com o mestre Tota, o melhor é gravar em um pendrive) com a velocidade mais baixa possível.

No caso específico acredito que o melhor seria mesmo baixar uma imagem do 12.04LTS, porque o 10.10 já teve seu suporte encerrado e se você atualizasse para o 11.04 teria mais problemas do que soluções.

No entanto, uma coisa que é pouco divulgada é que o ubuntu possui um repositório "old", para atualizações de segurança de distribuições antigas. http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/

Para tanto, quem tiver a necessidade de manter um sistema antigo em funcionamento (No setor ainda usam uma versão modificada do hardy (8.04) precisa modificar o arquivo /etc/apt/sources.list

## Altere o nome da distribuição, logo após /ubuntu (No exemplo, o Ubuntu 6.06.2LTS, dapper):
