Sistema travando, não abre aplicativos, boot lento.

Cara uma coisa que vi no log do seu boot ele ta demorando no ntpdate, então vamo limpar esse boot, se tu não usar laptop da pra tirar o bluez-utils, ntpdate, fetchmail, pcmcia, atd, dns-clean, evms, lvm, mdamd, mdamd-raid, ppp,  ppp-dns

N3t0 e o que é esse problema de só abrir aplicativos depois que desconectar? CAra, eu desconecto da internet e volta ao normal, conecto e da problema. Não faço ideia do que pode ser isso. E o som também não consigo fazer funcionar.

Eu ainda não desabilitei os serviços, ate que o boot devagar não me incomoda tanto. O que mais me deixa frustrado é não ter conseguido configurar minha placa de som. To sem som, se pelo menos eu tivesse som aqui eu ficaria mais tranquilo. To tentando seguir os tutoriais que acho, mas não consigo achar nada de forma bem clara, de um jeito que eu possa fazer e funcionar certo sem problemas. Tenho uma Sound Blaster Awe 64.PElo que vi no log, ele ta detectando a placa de som.

sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop

Ele fez alguns dowloads, porém como faço agora para executar o XFCE? REbootei o sistema mas não aparece opção para escolher qual gerenciador de janelas usar...

REsolvi meu problema do som. Acho que depois vou postar aqui o que eu fiz que resolveu meu problema...

Primeiro eu executei os comandos:

sudo -s
modprobe snd-sbawe;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;
modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss

$ sudo modprobe sb

Não apareceu mensagem de erro nenhuma. Depois eu acrescentem em /etc/modules a linha:

sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 dma16=3

Feito isso, eu reinstalei os drivers alsa. Voila! REbootei, o som esta funcinando, pelo menos pelo xmms. Mas no reboot ele fala que não encontrou a placa. O importante é que agora posso ouvir meus mp3 sossegadamente no ubuntu.

Minha placa é uma SOUND BLASTER AWE 64.
