Resolução de vídeo no Ubuntu 8.10 [Resolvido!!!]

Boa noite pessoal!

Comprei um notebook da positivo que possui uma placa de vídeo SIS e estou enfrentando um grande problema de resolução de vídeo. Só consigo deixar a resolução de vídeo 800x600!!!

TERRÍVEL A IMAGEM!!

Alguém poderia me ajudar como resolver esse problema de resolução? já configurei o arquivo xorg.conf e sem sucesso!


Se alguém souber alguma solução fico agradecido, senão serei obrigado a migrar de versão de linux infelizmente =/ coisa que eu não queria!!

Poste seu xorg aqui( /etc/X11/xorg.conf)
Tente ir no recovery mode e ir em Try to Fix X server.
Tente dar um sudo dpkg-reconfigur xserver-xorg.
Tente clicat com o botão direito sobre os menus, vá em editar menus e marque para exibir"outras".
Agora vá no menu aplicações>outras>Telas e Placas de Vídeo e configure sua tela lá.

Sou meio novato em linux, mas estou tentando me libertar do Titio Bill Gates!! hehehe... Vi sua sugestão agora... prém nesse momento estou fazendo um trabalho da Facul e estou usando o Vista... assim que puder tentarei configurar, daí posto o resosta!

Postarei o meu xorg.conf para você poder verificar!

Eu já instalei o Ubuntu 8.04 no Fujitsu-Siemens V5515, e seguindo o que é dito por este fórum http://www.techzonept.com/archive/index.php/t-216758.html consegue-se uma resolução razoável de écrã. Porém, no Ubuntu 8.10 não se conseguem compilar, pois que o Kernel não aceita, e não sei qual a razão. Por outro lado o 8.10 ainda tem alguns problemas, nomeadamente um problema que ao que parece é derivado do próprio Kernel, que é a falha em gravar CD/DVD's. Mas no 8.04 esse probleminha de gravação não existe, só existe mesmo no 8.10.

O launchpad do Ubuntu reconheceu que existe um problema, e a situação está reportada, mas é um problema relativo a determinadas máquinas, principalmente as AMD Athlon/Duron.

A página e a solução para a «sis» fica aqui, mas hoje sei que tem que se instalar o gcc 4 para se poder compilar o dito módulo gráfico, só que a placa de vídeo é um pouco fraquita.

Executei todos os passos sugeridos por você porém sem sucesso! =/

na opção que você me passou de exibir o menu "outras", marquei a opção porém não existe a opção Telas e Placas de Vídeo.

Tive o mesmo problema.
Mudei o xorg.conf conforme abaixo e está funcionando em 1024x768.

E a saga continua...hehe.

A última configuração do xorg.conf não ficou boa para ver filmes no Totem. Então, toca a procurar a solução de novo.

Acho que achei, porque o Totem funcionou normal.

Pessoal,
estou com o mesmo problema, minha resolução está fixa em 800x600 e não consigo alterar para 1024x768.
Meu notebook tem placa de vídeo SIS MIRAGE 3 GRAPHICS. Já tentei vários comandos e nada. Se alguém puder ajudar, postem a solução.

     Sou iniciante no linux. Uso o ubuntu 8.10, mas sofro pela placa de vídeo ser SIS mirage 3+ graphic. Li em alguns tópicos e não encontrei nenhum driver para esta placa, então estou sem poder usar nenhum efeito ou jogar qualquer jogo 3D, por mais antigo que seja.

Olá,
também tenho um notebook positivo z74 com a placa de vídeo SiS m672 e tive o mesmo problema...
passei um tempo usando a resolução 800 x 600 e quando achei esse tópico consegui resolver meu problema.
Tudo que eu tive que fazer foi alterar o xorg.conf, conforme as sugestões do colega Flatac, ficou perfeito. Agora já posso utilizar a resolução máxima que  meu not oferece.

Olá amigos. Olha eu perdi a paciencia com o meu Ubuntu 8.10, pois esse problema com resolução me dé dor de cabeça. A minha só tinha duas resoluções a maior é 800x600, ai mudei pra outra menor e pronto, não volta mais pra 800x600 e já fiz tudo que os maigos do forum já me disseram, todas as dicas e nada, continua na mesma. Eu não queria mudar de novo para o Windows, mas estou vendo que vai ser o jeito. Se ainda tiver uma ajuda fora essas do forum a, por favor me manda, de preferencia um passo-a-passo. Obrigao desde já.
