Headphone no 8.10

Acabei de instalar o Ubuntu 8.10, e editei meu /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base, já que não havia som, como é usual quando eu instalo o Ubuntu do zero (uso um Toshiba Satellite A135-S4637) deixando-o assim:

Porém, quando eu conecto o headphone no notebook, o som continua a sair nas caixas do mesmo. Já procurei no fórum, e não achei nada que eu imagino que possa resolver. Alguém tem idéias? Adicionar mais alguma linha ao alsa-base pode ajudar?

deixe só assim:
