[AJUDA]Instalação modem no Ubuntu 8.04 no notebook Intelbrás N6000W

Bom, sou bem novo usuário de linux, optei pela distribuição Ubuntu Linux 8.04 - Hardy Heron, meus drivers identificaram tudo blz, so q eu uso internet discada um dos poucos drivers que nao identificou foi o do modem... já procurei diversos forum explicando como instalar o modem(winmodem), so que primeiro, nao consigo identificar o driver do modem, por tanto fiz diversos teste com vários drivers(slmodem-2.9.11-20080817,slamr-2.6.22-14-generic,SLMODEMD.gcc4.2) e ja segui diversos tutoriais e todos eles falharam...da erro no comando make.
Consegui instalar o Gnome PPP para criar um "discador", deu certo! mas... quando vo testar o modem ele da erro, diz que "o sistema nao conseguiu identificar o modem", e nao disca!!
Peço ajuda de vcs para instalar o modem, para começar usei o scanModem e ele me disse isso:

Compiling hsfmodem drivers does require linux-libc-dev and libc6-dev packages, for kernels 2.6.24 and later versions.
In not included on your install CD, search for them at http://packages.ubuntu.com
or comparable Repository for other Linux distros.
When compiling ALSA drivers, the utility "patch" will also be needed.




If a driver compilation fails, with message including some lack of some FileName.h (stdio.h for example), then

and any of its dependents, under Ubuntu linux-libc-dev

If an alternate ethernet connection is available,
$  apt-get update

Bom gente... tentei instalar alguns modens que vi em vários tutoriais...+ ainda nao consegui...

Alguém pode me ajudar?
