ubuntu nao inicia mais

olá
possuo dual boot de win xp e ubuntu 8.04 no hd.
quis testar o opensuse 11 e então peguei a partição do windows, diminuí 15gb e instalei o suse nela..
só que nao gostei, entao entrei pelo live do ubuntu, apaguei a particao do suse, e expandi a particao do windows para reocupar o espaço do suse.
ainda, restaurei o grub pelo live.
o windows funciona direitinho, porém o ubuntu nao inicia de jeito nenhum. ele começa a iniciar, a caregar, porém dá uma falha e aparece um monte de erros, que vou digitar aqui:

quando volta, tudo na mesma. sei que seria muito mais facil reinstalar o ubuntu, mas eu realmente quero aprender como resolver isso, caso eu precise futuramente..

Eu sou novo no Linux em questão mas não sou tão novo assim:

Minha sugestão é o seguinte, caso alguém venha ter o mesmo problema:

Tente pelo LiveCD copiar os arquivos de /usr e tambem do /bin. Ta me parecendo que alguns comandos foram perdidos e outra forma seria tentar corrigir a partição de que alguma forma foi danificada, sei lá
