vida util do hd no ubuntu 8.04 ainda é diminuida??? o problema foi resolvido???

Tudo bem pessoal, ano passado como a maioria dos usuários do ubuntu, instalei o 7.10, tava tudo bem, com alguns bug's q me aborreciam, mas até ai, não me importava muito, até que me deparei com isso...

Um problema do ubuntu, acho que posso chamar assim, que diminuia a vida util do hd, como está descrito nesse blogue, tentei verificar se isso estava acontecendo aqui, infelismente sem sucesso pois a chamada

sudo smartctl -A /dev/sda | grep Load_Cycle_Count

não me retornava nada, achei que por meu pc ser mais antigo e o hd também e claro, estava livre desse problema e continuei usando o ubuntu mesmo assim, ai que no final do ano, meu hd se encheu de badblock, começou a esquentar muito, mais que o normal, e não consegui resolver mais esse problema, fiquei 1 mês sem pc, até compra outro hd...

Bom essa é minha história de prejuizo, não sei se por causa do ubuntu ou por outro motivo, mas aconteu tempos depois de eu começar a usar o 7.10, e pouco tempo depois de eu ler o blog.

O que eu na verdade quero saber, é que comprei um novo hd, sata 250GB, e instalei o 8.04 em teste agora, e novamente o comando não me retorna nada....

e agora, o que eu faço??? alguém sabe se o problema foi resolvido??? Desde já agradeço!!!

A esse eh o do hd de 80, o q ta estragado, ele ainda ta na minha maquina mas não adianta, se eu tento salva alguma coisa nele, ou da erro na hora de escreve ou da erro na hora de lê...

Eu pude notar que nesse blog eles falam muito que o gerenciamento de energia em Notebooks pode trazer problemas para o HD. Será que o mesmo vale também pra Desktops ???

Pois eh, pelo que eu entendi sim, e meu pc eh um desktop, e tive problemas com meu hd, aqui ja executei, mesmo sem saber se o problema esta a ocorrer com meu novo hd, o script de reconfiguracao pra evitar novas dores de cabeca e prejuizos!!!

se o smartctl -a /dev/sda | grep Load_Cycle_Count não está dando retorno vc tenta digitar ele em modo "sudo"

aqui em casa pegou só quando eu tentei como sudo!
