Placa de Vídeo - Monitor - Resolução de Tela

Olá a todos!

Sou novato em Linux, e estou tentando configurar a parte de vídeo, porém estou encontrando algumas dificuldades...

Tenho uma placa de vídeo ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE] e acho que consegui instalá-la corretamente.

Porém, tenho um monitor de 17' (Samsung SyncMaster 793v) e estou tentanto usar uma resolução de vídeo mais alta, mas estou enfrentando dificuldades. Em <System> <Screen resolution>, tenho apenas as opções de 1024x768, 800..., 640..., e 60Hz para freqüência.

Tentei os seguintes posts em blogs para conseguir, mas não obtive sucesso:

Parece que sua placa está bem configurada, especialmente se estiver rodando o Beryl  sem problemas. Para confirmar, abra o terminal e digite:

Se a resposta for YES, tudo perfeito.

Você instalou os "drivers restritos"? Se sim, edite seu xorg.conf  e na secção

Isto deverá permitir uma taxa de refresh mais adequada ( entre 75 e 85 Hz).

Quanto às resoluções, vou esperar sua resposta para dizer algo. Meu monitos é um SyncMaster 793DF ( praticamente idêntico), e eis o trecho correspndete do meu xorg:
