Avidemux não abre depois de atualização no Ubuntu

Description:   Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Release:   16.04
Codename:   xenial

Eu baixei o avidemux na Central de Software do Ubuntu , usei por alguns meses sem problemas , mas depois que fez a atualização do sistema , o programa não abre mais , somente o Avidemux 2.6 Jobs que abre . 

Teria algum macete ?  ou é melhor desinstalar  e reinstalar de novo ?   não me lembro direito , mas acho que já tinha feito isso há um tempo atrás e voltou o problema de novo .

Tentei estes 3 comandos mas deu algum tipo de erro :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rebuntu16/avidemux+unofficial

sudo apt update

sudo apt install avidemux2.6-qt5


desinstalei e reinstalei , porém continua na mesma , o programa aparece no menu , mas não abre de jeito nenhum , só o avidemux jobs que consegue abrir .

Primeiro precisa dar uma arrumada geral nessa saida do apt.

Faça assim:

USERNAME=$(who | awk '{ print $1 }')&&mkdir /home/$USERNAME/bak-sources-list

sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*bak /home/$USERNAME/bak-sources-list/

sudo apt-get autoremove

sudo apt update

Agora instale, se já não tem instalado, o ppa-purge (não me lembro bem, mas acho que já tem, enfim, verifique).

sudo apt install ppa-purge

sudo ppa-purge ppa:rebuntu16/avidemux+unofficial

sudo apt-get remove --purge avidemux*

(note que antes do --purge é duplo hífen, melhor copiar e colar o código completo no terminal do que digitar, evitando erros de retranscrição)

sudo dpkg -P avidemux2.6-common

sudo dpkg -P avidemux2.6-plugins-common

sudo dpkg -P avidemux2.6-jobs

Pode ser que algum(uns) dos dpkg acima retornem algum erro, porém melhor executar assim mesmo, a ideia é remover qualquer vestígio de instalações anteriores antes de reinstalar.

Agora refazendo a instalação, que é da vesão 2.6.18:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rebuntu16/avidemux+unofficial

sudo apt update

sudo apt install avidemux2.6-qt5


Na instalação está vindo um aviso que a versão 2.6.19 já está disponível, mas em princípio é melhor aguardar o "Thanh Tung Nguyen" atualizar a ppa incorporando a nova versão.
