Erro: Indice de software danificado

Olá pessoal.

Uso Lubuntu 12.10 e estou tentando instalar um pacote do Skype e está dando a seguinte mensagem de erro:

"indice de software danificado

Esta  é uma falha grave de seu sistema gerenciador de programas. Por favor verifique se há pacotes quebrados com o synaptic, verifique as permissões e integridade do arquivo '/etc/apt/sources.list' e recarregue as informações do programa com o comando:'sudo apt-get update' e 'sudo apt-get install -f'."

Usei o apt-get update e o apt-get install -f mas não resolveu.

Tentei entrar no gerenciador synaptic e deu a seguinte mensagem:

Alguém pode me dar uma dica sobre como resolver esse problema?

Podem desconsiderar o tópico pois já resolvi o problema. Apenas apaguei o arquivo

/var/lib/apt/lists/dl.google.com_linux_chrome_deb_dists_stable_main_i18n_Translation-en e funfou. valew.

Tive o mesmo problema, com o mesmo arquivo inclusive, tentando instalar um outro aplicativo (o primeiro depois de instalar o Ubuntu). Também o apaguei e aparentemente o problema desapareceu, mas não tem problema apagar arquivos do sistema assim? Parece que é algum pacote de tradução ou algo do gênero, e pra mim realmente não faz falta, mas é muito estranho uma coisa pequena dessas travar todo o sistema, afinal enquanto eu não apaguei o tal arquivo não consegui instalar mais nada, nem com o apt-get e nem com a Central de Programas do Ubuntu... Que coisa! =\
