Apos atualizacao meu 12.04 nao inicia mais modo grafico

Ola!
Atualizei o ubuntu hj, mas durante a instalacao acabou a bateria do notebook.. Ateh ai tudo bem, pois atualizei manualmente pelo terminal.

Apos reiniciar o ubuntu vai direto para o modo texto. Nao inicia modo grafico.
Ja tentei usar startx mas trava e nao sai dai.
Alem disso nao achei a pasta /etc/inittab
Diz que ela nao existe.
Tentei recuperar pelo liveCD reistalando, mas soh aparece a opcao de apagar o sistema e instalar outro O.o

Alguem pode me ajudar? Abracos! Ateh mais!

1) Ao iniciar a maquina, voce entrou nas opções do Grub?

se não: entre para ver as opções

se sim:

a) Você tentou uma versão anterior do kernel?

b) usou as opções do recovery mode? Notadamente o fsck e o dpkg? Quais mensagens de erros eles informam?

Ola! primeiramente obrigado!

eu acessei grub sim, inclusive entro no meu sistema com meu usuario e senha, alem de acessar os meus arquivos nele.
Tentei acessar por um kernel mais antigo, ele entra na tela de login em modo grafico perfeitamente, porem quando coloco a senha ele aparece o modo texto por alguns segundos e volta pra tela de login denovo, como se eu nao tivesse colocado a senha.

pode me ensinar a usar estes comando de recuperação? obrigado!

acredito que o problema seja esse libc6, sabe como resolver?

Pelo visto a rede por cabo não foi habilitada quando selecionou => network

Volte lá habilite e vá para o root

Tive que trocar o pathcord aqui, o anterior estava mal crimpado.

realizei novamente os procedimentos, aparentemente ele vai demorar cerca de 1h de downloads.

Aparentemente voce tem um conflito em seus repositórios, algum ppa ou outra coisa parecida.

entre com o live cd, monte seu hd e verifique o arquivo /etc/apt/sources.list
