Nao toca mais de um som ao msmo tempo (ALSA CS4281)

Galera to com o seguinte probleminha, como escuto musica 24/7 o pc ta sempre tocando algo, entao qndo vai tocar otru evento sonoro ou coisa parecida, ele n toca, so fika a musika, e no esquema de som lah, diz q o dispositivo ta sendo usado e bla bla bla qndo tento executar o teste escutando musica.
outra coisa que notei foi o o volume do linux eh milhoes de vezes maior q a do windows, ou eu que estou louco?!

Não está ficando louco não! Essa é uma possibilidade muito comum! ;D

Você está usando Alsa ou OSS? É bem possível que esteja usando esse último ou que o driver da sua placa ainda está em desenvolvimento e ainda não suporta múltiplas streams de audio.

Se estiver usando OSS, abra o gnome-sound-properties e mude para Alsa.

errr, tava usando o OSS mas com o ALSA, ele ta o seguinte erro "audiotestsrc wave since=512 ! audioconvert ! audiosample ! gconfaudiosink profile=music: recurso ocupado ou não disponivel"

Pelo que você me mostrou o seu Alsa não está funcionando perfeitamente, só o OSS. Isso explica a limitação de tocar um som por vez.

Primeiro vamos ver se você tem uma placa de som compatível com o Alsa. O OSS um sistema de som que provê mais ou menos um "driver genérico". Vamos saber se o seu chipset é compatível e se você tem os drivers do Alsa instalados.

Você também pode se adiantar indo nesse link, substituindo o nome do chipset pelo seu.

É bom também colar aqui a saída do dmesg e do lspci -v, naquilo que for relevante à sua placa de som (se você tiver dúvida, pode colocar tudo que eu cato. Assim que iniciar o computador, digite no terminal:

Só pra enteder o que você está fazendo: cada comando é separado por um ";" e todas as saídas estão sendo direcionadas ">" para o mesmo arquivo, uma abaixo da outra ">>", e finalmente você abre o arquivo no gedit para facilitar a cópia dos dados aqui no tópico.

Você é a primeira pessoa que eu vejo que colocou o CD/DVD Rom no master da primeira ide e o hd como master da segunda ide!

Mas voltando ao que interessa.

Não sei como é a sua leitura de inglês, mas aqui: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToSetupSoundCards tem um tutorial de como instalar a placa de som.

com algumas diferenças pro seu hardware:
sudo modprobe snd-cs4281
alsamixer
sudo gedit /etc/modules
snd-cs4281
sudo modprobe snd-cs4281 port=0x220(tem que ver na bios) irq=11 dma1=1(tem que verna bios) *Ele diz que "acha"! Pode ser que a sua placa não precise.

Em http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/ALSA_modules Justamente a sua placa não tem informação, mas em compensação http://www.thinkwiki.org/index.php?title=CS4281 mostra que ela é compatível.

Eu sei, mas é que por alguma causa, a minha BIOS não lê o driver de CD na master da primeira ide

sudo lspci -v aparece a porta, mas ainda assim, vais ter que catar o DMA lá.

Em todo caso, esse é um passo que talvez você possa ignorá-lo.
